Do you have to use the blackberry data plans with the curve?

Can you use mediamax with it?

I currently am using a blackjack1 and mediamax 200. If I upgrade to a curve, can I keep the data plan? Im using an exchange server for my emails.

Am I better off upgrading to a moto q or BJ2 instead of a curve?

Thanks

I'm not an expert on this, but I just recently activated with AT&T and originally could not find any Blackberry plans in OLAM, so I picked Media Max 200 for the unlimited data. It seemed to work ok for a day and half, but then it stopped working as if they figured out something wasn't right and cut off my access. I switched over to the BIS plan over the phone with Customer service and my access still didn't seem to be working until they pushed some stuff out to my phone, then I was able to access the Internet again. From that experience...I would say it might work, but I wouldn't count on it. I guess my advice to you would be to research the phones and decide what you really want in a phone and how much you are willing to pay for the services to use those features on that particular phone. If you can get all of the features of the Blackberry on a phone that will work on MM200, then I would say go for it. I had a hard time finding a phone that had built-in GPS, Wi-Fi, Music & Video players that didn't cost an arm and leg + cost a fortune in services.

The Tilt was out of my price range, though I would have liked to have the 3G on top of all the features my BB has, I am very happy with the speeds I am seeing on the EDGE. The Q didn't have GPS (I wanted more than aGPS) or Wi-Fi. The Blackjack II wasn't available when I purchased my phone or I probably would have picked it since it has 3G and GPS and has the possibility of working with the Media Max plan, plus it has a camera. Here is a comparison of the 8310 vs the BJ II.

Oh, and Amazon has it for $50 with a 2 year contract:

It may seem like you are going to be forced into a $39.99 data plan when you make the purchase, but when I got my Blackberry I had no data plan even though I picked the $29.99 plan when I purchased through Amazon...so I don't think the features carry over from your purchase. Meaning you will most likely have to pick the data plan yourself through OLAM or over the phone. If Amazon's page is an indicator though, the BJII is intended to be on a PDA plan rather than a Media Max plan. Maybe you can try to put together a cart on AT&T's site and see whether or not the BJII is supposed to work with the $19.99 plan. (it doesn't appear to work when I put it in my cart on AT&T's site)

Edit:
Since you are also considering the Q Global, here is a comparison of all 3 phones. You might be happy with the Q too since it apparently has GPS and possibly a better battery life, while having the same OS you are used to:
