How about some real ringtones????

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

What's with the crappy ringtones??
Where can I get some decent, loud tones?

actually, where do you put mp3 files so they will be recognized and used for ringtones? I put them in "my document" in the on-board cell phone memory and they were recognized (BJ1), but on my BJ2 this does not work.

Posted by: Goofus

I put mine in "My Sounds" and it seemed to work.

I actually moved my mp3 ringtones to "my sounds" directory on the phone (not microSD card) and I do not see anything in the ringtones list. I also copied them to the windows directory (where I noticed a lot of other sounds, like notifications were located) and that was a bust as well.

Maybe it's the files? I've only tried this one so far:
http://www.dylangreene.com/ringtones/CrankRingtone.mp3
I ActiveSync'd it over, if that makes any difference.

(Sorry to hijack the thread)

the ringtones I used were custom ones that I created and successfully used on my BJ1. The BJ1 had no problems finding the tones either on the microSD card or in main memory.

nice website...large selection. Unfortunately when you download the ringtones to "my sounds" (the default location), the files do not show up in whatever folder the ringtones are located in. I've looked for the ringones and have no idea where they are. The notification sounds are in the windows directory, but when you place sound files in there, they are still not showing up under settings>sounds>ringtone

So wtf nobody figured out how to get mp3's for ringtones yet? This is weak..

Posted by: MTheGodfatherS

ok I tried Goofus' ringtone and it worked.. I guess it has to do with file size..

Posted by: Goofus

That's weak that there's a size limit. Any idea what the limit is?

Go into HKEY_Current User → ControlPanel → Sounds → FileSizeLimit (It’s a DWORD Value). Delete it. Go into your sounds menu, and you’ll be able to use your MP3 sounds that are in excess of the size limit placed on that particular wm6 phone
