AT&T Messenger costs???

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

So I get my net TILT and my kid goes to town with windows messenger.

Now, my data plan has no "message" features ($20/mo unlimited data 0 messages) but I figure that this messaging is over the Internet not through the phone message service.

WRONG....So 5 bucks later.

Is there a messenger that uses Internet and not AT&T service????

palringo, imov do a search for more.

Slick is by far the best. Windows live messenger (actual messenger from microsoft site) doesn't use ATT's service. The OZ app does use att's network.

Thanks, I'll look for "slick" and if not then download WLM from their site and install that. I'm trying octro something or other now...

octro, versamail, and IM+ (shapeservices.com) are some
IM+ while being one of the best at the moment is also one of the most expensive.

IM+ is horrible in my opinion. Slick is soooo much better. I hated IM+. It drained the batter and it's UI was HORRIBLE.

I disagree the UI is horrible though I agree it needs plenty of work. But you're right about the battery life. Also IM+ has difficluty staying connected. For the price it should be better.

I just tryed Slick (took a while to find it) and you're absolutely right. It's the best I've used so far! I don't know wh I had never heard of it before.

Thanks! It's now have a new IM app.

With IM+ you have to set the reconnect to 9999 then its not bad. Where can I find slick at?

Never mind found it however there is a few things that I already don't like about slick. One is you have to use the touch screen to send the message and there is no today screen for it. But other than that it works.

wow, never heard of SLick till I ran into this thread, nice!

Posted by: FlugPoP

Yah slick is actually pretty good make sure you download its updates.

I've been using Agile, I like the fact that it has a placement on the Today screen but it cuts off piece of the message in some cases. Haven't used Slick.

I had never heard of Slick either, and I had been searching for a good IM program a few weeks ago.

Even searches for it didn't intially turn up anything (lots of stuff named Slick).

It's from a company called Lonely Cat Games (kinda misleading), and is in alpha stage. I just downloaded and installed it and it seems pretty cool so far.

I highly discourage you use Octro. I used it and it will modify all your contacts on MSN or google. It changes them to something like "person@gmail.com.octro.net". It will also cause the gmail application to get slow and stop responding.

I ended up having to delete and readd a lot of contacts. The uninstall does nothing to fix the contacts.

I like Windows Live Messenger, but it only supports yahoo and msn contacts. It does not charge as txt messages.
