Dash battery life and open programs

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My friend has a Dash and said that in the past few days, her battery life has been diminishing much more rapidly before. She will also get a warning on the screen to close programs because theres not enough memory and she says that shes got nothing open to close.

Anyone else get this and how do I fix it for her?

The dash running the tmobile rom suffers from memory leaks. Where memory is used up and never gets recovered.

Usually a soft reboot of the phone (turn it off and back on) solves this.

Battery life -- make sure her wifi, bluetooth etc is all off.

Wifi and BT is off. She said it just started happening within the last couple days. She says she does battery pulls on a daily basis(I taught her that). Still not helping though. Shes had Dash's for almost a year now and this is the first time shes experienced the "memory low, please close some programs" warning.

Has she recently installed any new applications?

Only other thing I can think of is that she may have tons of pics or videos that she took using the dash and hasn't deleted or transferred off the device.

Have her go to Task Manager... that will display all apps she has opened and windows never released them after she was done.. Then have her click on Menu and select "Stop All" she will get an alert asking to hit OK...
she will be taken back to the task manager and the list should be clear.. , now have her click on menu and click on "Refresh" she should see her total memory jump up to a more reasonable level...

Since i found out about the memory leaks.. i do this few times a day since i tend to use alot of my apps.. the camera does tend to take up the most along with windows media player..

hope this helps..

my advice would be to load the rogers rom on it for her.. i just switched from the tmo wm6 rom and went from an average of 2-4 mb of memory to an average of 17-20 mb.. Huuuuuge difference

This worked! Thank you. It seems that she knew about doing the task manager thing but never hit "refresh" after it. Immediately she jumped up to 8k of free memory(from 5k). Her battery was already dying at the time but shes going to keep track of how it is today.

This only helps a little with the memory lose... it wont help with the battery life.. the other suggestions will help make the battery last...
making sure anything that is not being used within the com manager will help.. the wifi and bluetooth can drain the battery quick...

As for the memory.. if that helps.. since i found out about the memory leak, i tend to do a soft reset once a week..

Ok, well it seems that the battery life is still an issue. BT and WIFI are off but the battery hardly lasts through the day now. This is an all of a sudden thing within the last week or two.

Well, i have the same issue, but its because i keep checking and sending emails and text thru out the day so much that when i leave work the battery is dead or about to die...

Friend of mine found this place on ebay that sells the dash battery for $0.99 and $5 shipping... not a bad deal and he already got one.. hasnt had a problem yet... seems to last longer since its a new battery..

if you look on ebay look for bridge_wireless as the seller... you cant miss it..

I am planning on buying one today to have an extra....
