Any advice on sending to Virtual Dynamix for Upgrade?!

I wanna send my p800 to Virtual Dynamix, in Cali, tomorrow for the R2D upgrade but would just like to get some advice on how anyone else who has already upgraded through them packaged and sent their phone to them, thanx.

When sending in your phone, we do not need your sim card, memory card, or stylus.

We have received a few phones that were not wrapped in the box. The phone bounced around in the box the whole time it was shipped. Thankfully, none were damaged. I suggest wrapping and securing the phone with bubble wrap in the box.

When packing the phone, make sure that the phone is protected inside the package. Make sure that nothing can press hard against the flip keypad. We prefer you to remove the flip keypad, but it is not necessary.

Before sending in your phone, make sure that you backup all your data. I do not recommend doing a system backup/restore. Restoring your phone after update may overwrite new system files with the older ones.

hi rick,

what is the pricing on getting the latest firmware for the P800?

is it worth it or are there a certain amount of fixes coming out a month that it is not really worth to do it with in the first 3-6 month or what is your suggestion?

tks for the info

We charge $25 + shipping. If a new firmware comes out within 30 days, we will upgrade you for free within 30 days of service.

R2A is not a significant upgrade from R1G. It does make the phone more friendly. It allows multiple selects, widescreen pictures/movies, nightmode camera, muted shutter, and mp3 playback with the flip down.

I can completely reccomend virtualdynamix services. just got my P800 back from them. I sent it to them FedEx AM delivery. They sent it back out the SAME DAY they received it. minimal time without my beloved P800 is good (I never realized all the shortcomings of my T68i until I had to use it for the day that I was without my P800!) My phone now has R2D.

i agree with jskier - I had success with them as well. Sent mine out am fedex and they upgraded and shipped that very same day. I highly recommend Virtual Dynamix! But as Rick said, be sure to package the phone properly before sending and they do a nice job packaging it for the return trip.

Here's a link to view some nice screen captures of what you can expect with the R2D FW... http://sep800.mine.nu/files/Update/Update.html

R2D = v7.0s?

Posted by: Jalal

Ducsurfer,

R2D is a development of V.7.0. V7.0s was released and its for different companies to develop it further. We might see some of the things released with V.7.0 in the near future. From my understanding V.7.0s has support for Arabic and Hebrew which is of interest to us in this part of the world. Of course there are other things in there as well.

I, too, drove down to have my firmware upgraded, and was very pleased with the courtesy and fine work. I also picked up a nice leather belt case for $20 from them

I just received my phone back from Virtual Dynamix with the new R2D firmware. These folks took very good care of me the whole entire process.
1.) They were always available during business hours to talk on the phone when I called and endured all my questions.
2.) There was email feed back every step of the way.
3.) They did what they said they would and even called me to confirm they were shipping my phone back to me.

I reccomend you have your upgrade done by them.

By contrast, even though it would have been free, SE could not even tell me what version they would put in the phone or if they even would! I spent over an hour and several calls to SE before I decided it would be better to pay for it and know what was going to happen.

Where can I get the new version of Symbian 7.0s for my P800?

Can I flash the firmware myself with the cradle?

I've been waiting a long time for this, (MIDP 2.0! )

Thanks,

Do you guys need the battery?

For a quicker return, we recommend that you send the phone with a fully charged battery.

Well you can add me to The Very Happy Customer list of Virtual Dynamix!
I sent my P800 in last week for the R2D upgrade. My phone went out on Wed and I received it back Fri morning.
I’m very pleased with Sung and Rick’s super service; they even catered to a fussy guy like me. When I phoned them they were always there to answer my questions and followed my particular packing/shipping instructions to a T. I couldn’t be more pleased to do business with anybody else… I just wish I lived close enough for the walk-in service.

Many Thanks again

I do live close enough, and I stopped by earlier today. Excellent service, knowledgable, courteous. My highest recommendation (well, for whatever that is worth... )

Thanks Rick!
