v3m LCD Troubles

Hey everyone... flashed my v3m with the latest VZW software, then to Alltel, and spent a LONG time getting it back from that brick. Finally able to use the thing and now this happens:
I know it's not a product of the flash (at least, I don't think so...)...while on the generic v3m f/w, I tried to open Openwave and that's when the display became garbled. The outer LCD displays nothing at all, and most of the time, the inner main LCD is solid white.
Without details, my situation is so tight that I can't really pay to ship it to Moto to get it fixed, although I have that option because it is still under warranty...any tricks to bring it back to life or am I stuck with a basically unusable phone until I'm not broke anymore?
