How can I 'reformat' my MDA/Wizard?

When I first bought my phone it was very fast. A couple months later I installed a couple programs on it (Microsoft Voice Command was one of them) and the thing slowed down dramatically. I loved Voice Command so much that I tried to ignore the delayed key presses and 20 second hangs for 9 months, until I couldn't take it anymore and uninstalled all the extra programs I had previously installed. Knowing computers and knowing what a resource hog Voice Command is, I figured it would probably give me a decent boost. It did, but it's still not nearly as quick as it was when it was new.

I'm not sure if there's some way to restore the phone back to how it came from the factory using the CD that was included with the phone or not, as I lost it long ago, but if there is I'd like to do it to regain the lost speed. Can anyone tell me what it's going to take to speed this up and get it running like it used to?

What rom are you using? 5.0 or 6.0? I had the same issue with my mda. Is it gsm/CID unlocked?

What you're referring to is a Hard Reset. A Soft Reset is similar to rebooting your computer, and a Hard Reset is like a reformat/reinstall of the operating system. T-Mobile has a support site that describes the procedure for The T-Mobile MDA.If you're not running the T-Mobile ROM, or otherwise don't have the "Clear Storage" icon in Settings, this procedure will work as well:
  1. Press and hold the Communications Manager and Voice Command buttons
  2. While they are pressed, push in on the soft reset button (reset hole) once
  3. Continue to hold the Communications Manager and Voice Command buttons until you see a black screen asking you if you want to clear all data.
  4. To clear all data (i.e. "reformat") press the green send key.
Hope that helps...
