Using BitPim with Voyager

Can you use BitPim with the Voyager to sync the calender with Outlook and get additional ringtones?

Posted by: mehinator

I dont think the calendar works with bitpim, but i dont know much about it. As for ringtones, you can use the vcast software that came with the phone, just type ringtones and .mp3(ie "ringtonessongname.mp3") in the file name you want as a ringtone and transfer it, it will show up in your ringtones section.

You can import your outlook calander into bitpim and then transfer it to your Voyager.

The formatting is a little different once it's on your phone, but the info is there.

yea but i believe u need to use the beta/test version of the program

is this true for the env? i dont have time to make a song at the moment so i cant test it. I will have the voyager as of the 25th so ill try it then for the voyager =)

use bit pim for ringtones. they dont show up under the vcast music though. the music under the vcast music program wont show up for ringtones. but you can use each one separately for each purpose I did it on mine.

I downloaded bitpim, plugged my voyager in, and opened up the program. It says COM4: could not open port. Do I need to download some sort of driver for this phone? What's the problem?

Posted by: nj12nets

no but i believe only the beta version of the program works with the voyager

Posted by: nj12nets

the lg drivers also shouldve come with the voyager cd. install th at first

Posted by: MagicDave

The Voyager CD doesn't work on my computer for some reason. Is there somewhere else to get the drivers?

Argggg!

My new puppy crushed both screens on my Voyager last night with his teeth and the insurer is out of them as well as the stores. Meanwhile, I just started dating this girl and I can't see her phone number and have no way to reach her. I gotta pull the info off this phone.

Posted by: mkfan49

will the vx9800 ringtones hacks for the microsd work for the voyager

Posted by: nj12nets

not sure but i know bitpim beta verizon has the music software download online so u can get the drivers through that for sure. ps from the lgvoyager.com wiki page
Using the 1.0.2 release of BitPim you must select VX 8700 when detecting the phone to add ringtones and photos on/off the phone and VX 8550 to read and write from phonebook.

i would say make sure your drivers are installed properly and theres no device conflicts

Posted by: scrawnypaleguy

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.1 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; ) 400x240 LGE VX10000)

yes. u can import ur calendar from outlook into bitpim and then sync it with the voyager.

Posted by: MagicDave

Okay, I got it to work on my new Voyager. I had to install VCAST Music Manager from the Verizon CD that came with my phone, which included the drivers. Then Bitpim 1.0.3. When you open it, before you can get the data, you have to go to Edit, then Detect Phone. Otherwise if you just try to transfer the data, you'll get an error message. You only have to detect the phone once, then it should always work.

I was very surprised to plug in my LG10000 and have it work 1st time. But be aware, for some reason my drivers for the LG seem to be set to 1 usb port on my laptop. If I try to plug my phone into another USB port on same laptop, it won't work.

If you want to use Bitpim you'll also need the phones drivers. LG has them posted at www.lgcommunity.com under the file library. Then in bitpim click the Get phone data icon and check the wallpaper box, then press OK. You should see all your photos under Images in the Media drop down menu to the left. You could also use a microSD card and transfer all your photos to the card, then access the card on your computer.

http://www.lgcommunity.com/FileLibr...54/Default.aspx

It says DRIVERS at the bottom of the list.

Oh, and Jay, with the microSD card in your voyager, go to Tools in the main menu and select USB mass storage device. A removable disk window will pop up for ya.

Posted by: fischman

Jay, it's bitpim.org, not bitpm.org

Not sure if that's where you were having problems or not. But figured I'd point it out since it looks like you've misspelled it a couple times in your posts.

Josh

Posted by: Skeletorbones

hey fishman, how do you like the glimmer? and is it compatible with bitpim?

Posted by: jayf1965

I stand corrected on the bitpim address..(thank you for pointing it out to me it has been along time since i have been there...lol)

Oh Skeletorbones thanks for that eye opener on the usb mass storage...wow that made me feel so stupid..lmao!!

You guys are great here and have a lot of great input and ideas. I'll have to keep up more here..

Thanks to all of you...

How about without the 's' at the end (not even sure where it could have come from)? The software is just BitPim after all, so www.bitpim.org would work.
