8525 Out of Stock

I was on AT&T Premier's site and noticed the new 8525s were out of stock, but the refurbs are in stock. Then I went to AT&T's site and saw that they only offered the refurbs. So I called AT&T Premier and asked them when the 8525 is supposed to be back in stock, they said that they can not tell me if or when they will be, that I just need to check back periodically. So my question is, do they usually restock their supply quickly, or do you think they're phasing out the 8525? Also, are the refurbs any good?

Thanks,
Nick

I just ordered a refurb last night, it's supposed to be just fine.

I've had my 8525 refurb for about 2 weeks and I love it!

My first refurb was cingular brand and the front buttons stopped working after a few days. Then I had a white screen of death (may have been caused from my car accident tho).

My 2nd refurb was ATT, and the front buttons stopped working again and even the side buttons. Also, my speakerfone was nothing but static

My 3rd one, which is right now is currently working with no problems. My ringtones only work sometimes, but it maybe because of one of the programs I used.

I bought the first 8525 beginning of June. My 2nd one was September and my first was early Novem.

Well the Premier site is back up, and the new 8525s are all gone, only the refurbs are left . I've seen post that people have either had good luck, or horrible luck with the refubs... man I just can't make up my mind. I like that I don't have to sign up for a data plan with the 8525. I don't know !

Except that's not what it means at all.

It means once broken and used and that's the bottom line. All my electronics that I buy are new !

It could also mean somebody tried it, didn't like it and returned it. I've done that with many phones in the past.

Not to mention the fact that if it was refurbished because it was in fact broken or defective, it's not like they just put it in a new box and sell it to someone else like that. The phones get sent back to the manufacturer, then they go through the device to fix what's wrong, and then reconditon it (put new screen that's not scratched, clean it up, possibly replace the housing if it's scratched up, usually a new battery door cover, put new protective sticky thingies to cover it until you open it), assign a new ESN or IMEI #, re-pack it with new accessories and manuals in a new box, and THEN sell it to someone else.

You usually have better odds of getting a defective device when you buy a new one since it hasn't been diagnosed like one that's been returned for a problem so that the problem(s) can be fixed. But as with anything electronic, there's always a chance of getting one with something wrong. I've purchased many different refurbished things over the years and almost every one has been just as good (or better) than a new one.
