. I've seen post that people have either had good luck, or horrible luck with the refubs... man I just can't make up my mind. I like that I don't have to sign up for a data plan with the 8525. I don't know

The phones get sent back to the manufacturer, then they go through the device to fix what's wrong, and then reconditon it (put new screen that's not scratched, clean it up, possibly replace the housing if it's scratched up, usually a new battery door cover, put new protective sticky thingies to cover it until you open it), assign a new ESN or IMEI #, re-pack it with new accessories and manuals in a new box, and THEN sell it to someone else.
You usually have better odds of getting a defective device when you buy a new one since it hasn't been diagnosed like one that's been returned for a problem so that the problem(s) can be fixed. But as with anything electronic, there's always a chance of getting one with something wrong. I've purchased many different refurbished things over the years and almost every one has been just as good (or better) than a new one. |
