Hey Hofo members!
I'm a newbie around here but I've frequented the site on numerous occasions. I finally bit the bullet and signed up for an account.

Anyhoo, besides the introductory, I'd like to talk about something, mainly Cect manufactured phones. The one thing I'd like to be discussed is the differences between the P168 model and the A988 model. What distinguishes the two models from one another, aside from the design/aesthetics and the A988 being quad-band? From what I can tell, they seem to be similar in all respects other than those. Anyone more knowledgeable on their differences? Thanks for your input! And, any impressions regarding the two would be much appreciated as well. I'm looking to get one of these models soon and it'd go a long way in making a decisions. Thanks guys!

I got A988+ and I think it's better than the tri-band 168, but the quad-band 168 just release dec07 has better BT than the A988+

Quad-Band is called P168+ and it works fine in New York with good reception.

I got a cect p168+ for christmas and it didnt work on the AT&T 850 network but does work on the 1900 network. Even with the sticker that is on the phone that says 850 optional. BEWARE

Then you got the wrong phone from the wrong seller. If you go into engineering mode (*#3646633#) and set the network to 850mhz only and if you get no signal then the phone doesn,t have 850mhz. You need a very reliable seller with these phones.

I'm thinking of picking up one of these phones, how do you get into engineering mode to check this? thanks!

is it worth the money to get one of these phones? I've heard varying things.. plus the whole being a Chinese knock off scares me. am i gonna die of lead poisoning? lol

I just got mine, it connected straight to it. But I don't understand how to do the handwritting recongzition. Also on the video it shows it in a painting app. I dont have that either. When I call people it pops up their name but when they call me just the number?

Just got a CECT C828 TV Phone. It's great!!

Got a problem though..after I loaded a music vid (MP4) in, the vid is super slow (FPS) but the sound is normal. Any ideas why??
TV has no problem at all when signal is good.

The P168 have publish dual sim card, dual standby mobile phone, for the P168, it have two frenquency, one is 900/1800/1900, the other is 850/1800/1900 , so i think you take the 900/1800/1900 from one of China supply , the manufacture of P168 have published a new model P168S now, the quality is very good, Quad-band, Dual sim card, dual standby, touch shake, shake for next song, picture and video turn around auto.for details of them.

The A988 just have one sim card work, but P168 and P168S have two sim card, and work same time now.
