I am growing tired of my unlocked iPhone, and have been considering a touch or a touch dual. With that said, any one had an iphone, and swithced to a touch, or have both...I came from a blackberry Curve to the iPhone, and although I do not miss the BB, I have been strongly considering going back...but the touch has really caught my eye...my friend has the Sprint version.

no but i'm seriously considering doing the same. the new touch version w/ extra RAM sure does look tempting.

you should read this before you do, it outline clearly the advantage of one and the other.

There is a nice video too

In short, if you are a media geek, then stick with the iPhone even if the Touch isn't too bad. If you are "need something I can adapt to my type work geek" then any WM6 user know what you can do and it applies to the touch in a nice form factor.

I didn't use the iPhone, but I do like my Touch Dual...

I've had the BB curve, played with the I-phone for quite some time and settled on a touch enhanced. I do not use my phone for heavy media use. I use my phone for productivity and keeping me in touch with clients of my business. So for me it was about a great form factor, blackberry connect for emails and other applications that revolve around my office suite/software. I am amazed at what HTC has done in the Touch configuration. This thing has incredible craftsmanship and the Touch Dual is even better. If the Touch Dual operated on the 850mhz band then this would probably be my last phone for sometime. I can't think of whatelse Ineed my phone to perform.

I watched some of that video and I'm guessing they're using the original HTC Touch. One thing to consider, The Sprint HTC Touch is faster then the original touch and has more memory. The original GSM Touch has 201 mhz and 64mb RAM... when the Sprint touch has 400 mhz and 128mb ram. So the performance of the Touch in that video is not consistent to the Sprint Touch. the iPhone has a 800mhz and 128mb of ram (hearsay about the RAM, no one knows for sure).

My dad has a iPhone and I have a Sprint Touch. I fool around with his iPhone all the time.... so I can give you my opinion.

I prefer the Sprint Touch just for the flexibility. Software wise, I can do anything the IPhone does (play youtube videos plus Google video and more, listen to music, watch movies, googlemaps, piscel browser has 'full web' browsing with zooming, etc). The only thing the Touch lacks (compared to the iPhone) is speed, multi-touch (as in using two fingers to zoom in/out), and extra touch sensitive screen. Now if you are a heavy media user with your phone, I prefer the iPhone... but if you are a heavy mobile user and love the flexibility of 3rd party programs, I prefer the Touch.

Its really like comparing a Mac to PC thing. if they had a Windows Mobile device with 800mhz processor, then that would make my day.

On the Touch you could alos install BB Connect!

Man, I got to mess with my buddy's iPhone over the weekend and I'm actually looking at selling my Tilt to get one of those

The video playback on the iPhone was flawless.....on the Tilt it's terrible. The iPhone has the slickest interface I've ever seen and is so intuitive. The Windows Mobile OS is a f*cking horrid mess and it about as intuitive as cooking rice on a grill.....

As others have pointed out it just depends what your looking for your phone to do. Personally I need my phone to conduct business so the professional software suite that parallels my business computer is welcome. I've seen and used the I-phone and it is a nice piece when it comes to multimedia.

All of the controversy over which phone is better is ridiculous. Whenever a new product comes out, it is always better than anything else on the market. That is the whole reason for coming out with something new. As soon as the other cell manufacturers (HTC, Samsung, Palm, etc.) upgrade their equipment, they will rival and probably be better than the iphone. The best thing to do is pick your cellphone like you pick computers, make your decision based on what you want to accomplish with your phone. Windows OS is not that bad. I previously owned a Dash, now I own a Wing, my cousin has an iphone, and for what I do and what he does, we are both happy and satisfied. It's all in what you want.

Sound advice. Well said. What's sad is how few really grasp this concept.

Picking a phone is like choosing a pair of gloves...while another pair may look appealing to you, what's the point if they don't fit?

Thanks for all the responses.. my main problem with the iphone is that I have a flashed baseband and I am stuck at 1.02 FW. I know I can do whole lot of work to unlock it the proper way, but I am lazy! None of the apps I download anymore work with 1.02. I do love my iPhone, but I am on an exchange server with my Personal business, and although I have the iPhone connected to it via imap, their are some issues. I realized after buying it, I made a choice based on lust versus practicality, and I unlocked it myself and have been happy with it, but I am kind of stuck, do not want to waste the energy to go through the whole re-lock, unlock process...I guess I will have a glorified iPod and a Touch or Touch dual...or maybe back to trusty BBerry land. The iPhone is definately geared towards media consumption.

Exactly. When I owned my Blackberry's, they were better as far as having a business phone were concerned. I bought the 7290 because my fiancee' owned one and I wanted a PDA phone. I replaced it with a 7105t because I wanted a smaller phone, but still with all of Blackberry's functionality. Then came the HP Ipaq H6315 because it was a PPC (touchscreen) and I thought it would be cool to own one even though I didn't need it at the time. Then came the Dash because of the the music, video playback, and the features on Windows mobile. Then came the Wing because it look cooler than the Dash, but with the same functions.

So you see, as humans we make decisions based on other reasons and sometimes not based on what we really need. So I understand.

I think because you've already considered the relock and unlock process, you may have already made your decision and not know it.
