Just so everyone knows, there is a nationwide DNS Name Server problem with iPhones on the GoPhone PYP service. For some reason, the service is having trouble converting the name server (google.com) to an IP address. The way you can tell if it is your phone or the service is by turning off WiFi (so you are just on EDGE) and directing Safari to Google's IP address (72.14.207.99). If the page loads, then it is not the phone/sim and do not let any Rep tell you that it is. Tier1 techs will all want to transfer you to Apple care; DO NOT LET THEM! Apple will just send you right back. AT&T is still refusing to believe that this is a serious problem because GoPhone is not that large of the market, let alone those of us on the iPhone. The only way to change this is to call and have them open a ticket for you. It will be in this format: CM20071203_1737587. Once this is done ask the Rep for an ETR. Do not call back until your ETR has passed, as this will just increase hold time for them to tell you that you already have a ticket open and then hang up on you. I have spent 30+ hours with these people, so I trying to save all of the wonderful HoFo readers the same fate.

The main ETR being given out recently is 12/07/07, but that is not definate. For more information a great board is here. Hope this helps!

So is this just a iGoPhone issue or is this affecting all of at&t?

Because I am on contract and didn't experience anything like reported until this morning when I lost service all together. Any clarification would be great so I know what to expect between now and problem being fixed.

Officially I have heard that it is just GoPhone, but I wonder if they took the whole thing down in an attempt to fix it. Let me look into that . . .

. . . ok, from what I could gather, it is going to affect some post-paid customers as the DNS server is the same for both accounts. The problem lies in the fact that GoPhone users are being blocked from that server in a "lump and dump" fashion (whether this is intentional or nor is still out for deliberation). I would not be surprised if some post-paid users get "lumped" as well. The best option is to give it 24hrs, and if no change, open a trouble ticket. Thanks for the update and keep us posted!

As of 2pm on 12/6 EDGE is back up in Reno, NV. Just an FYI.
