I have a jailbroken, unlocked 4GB iPhone running 1.1.1. It was running great and now when I pick up my phone from the desk or have it in my hands. The signal just drops. It wasn't doing this when I first bought it. I don't know what to do. Should I go back to 1.0.2 or would it be hardware related. Please help!! The warranty is voided and the last thing I need is a $ 400 4GB WiFi iPod.

I had the same problem with my otb 1.1.1 worked perfectly for the first 3-4 days then the signal started dropping all the time.

Don't look at the bars while the phone is resting use the thing, if it begins to drop CALLS then worry. All phones drop and gain signals when they are just sitting there.

Thank you for the response. It has never dropped a call thankfully. I understand signal strength fluctuates. But no phone I have ever had has dropped signal while I'm writing an e-mail or SMS. That is my concern. Coming from a Curve that didn't lose signal in a room to a "state of the art" phone that does is really frustrating.

All my phones do this, and you're right the iPhone does fluctuate more the most phones but as long as you get the calls and don't drop them then you're all good and have nothing to worry about.
