K1m VZW Sound Problems

I purchased the K1m Red from verizon about a month ago and for no reason I can discern it has been going silent and although the sound on the keypad works, there is no audible ring with incoming calls, choosing ringtones, or even changing the master volume. I don't know if there is something that I hit accidentally?
It's not on "all sounds off" or "vibrate".
This happened over the weekend and I took out the battery for some time (about 20-30 minutes) and it seemed to fix the problem, but now it's happened again and taking out the battery and replacing it doesn't seem to be helping.. Any thoughts? I'm kind of new to fancy cell phones (my last one wasn't...)
