Just arrived yesterday. You have to download the driver on the Brando page. But it works really nicely.

Anyone tried one of these using Mac X 10.2? I suspect USB drivers would be a problem.

I got one about a week ago. It's a great cable. I also paired it with the USB to AC converter and the USB to car adapter. All of them perform excellently.
On a side note, I have the settings to synchronize, dial-up, and file push between the Sony PCG-C1MZX and the P800. It works without a hitch. If anyone is interested, please PM me.

What is the advantage of the cable over a USB Bluetooth adapter for the computer you're plugging into?

Well, the advantage of the USB cable I and whtrbt7 bought is the fact it is a convenient travel item, instead of the stand, which requires a USB connection for syncing, and an AC outlet for charging -- this cable uses one cable, one USB connection for both.
And yes, as rickpaul below mentions, you also cannot charge over bluetooth
