Verizon Q external antenna possible?

Can an external antenna such as a Wilson 12" magnetic mount be used
with Verizon Motorola Q? alternativewireless.com says no useable
port, wpsantennas.com says workable, but untested.
I tried a WA-1003 adapter and it didn't seem to make good contact even
after I filed the outer sleeve down to better expose the inner
contacts.
I have read somewhere that Verizon disables the antenna jack on their
Motorola Qs. Is this true? and is it disabled by a hardware or a
registry modification? Can it be re-enabled?
If the antenna jack is usable, which of the 2 jacks (right of the
flash) will work? They look identical to on my Q, though wpsantennas
says use the left port, the right is too small.
If it will work, any idea where I can get an adapter that will make a
good contact?
