Couple of Blackjack II Questions

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Just a couple of questions...

1. Is there any way I can get a charm loop anywhere on it? (The BJ I had a hole for it)

2. My screen goes to sleep then for some reason it will light up as if I got a txt message, but I have nothing new. Any reason it is doing this?

3. With my BJ I I could customize my txt message ring tone. With this one it won't let me. Is there anyway I can customize my txt ring tone?

Thanks for any help.

1) I don't see any place for a landyard on mine either but anyone actually use those things still?

2) Not sure, could just be a network update your phone recieved.

3) Umm you can for sure. You go to Start - Settings - Sounds - Other Sounds and edit what you like. I for one love the new sounds instead of the same WM ones we've had forever.

I use the lanyard to hang the phone around my neck, cuz I dont like clips and it falls too much if I dont have anything attached to it.

And the txt ringtone thing I know how to change it, but I downloaded a specific ringer that I want for txt messages and that ringer is not in the selection choice for txt. But it is in the ringtone selection choice.

I'd love to see you walking down the street with that around your neck

Hmm.. the txt thing is weird then. I went to the txt selection thing and i see all my ringtones there and i can choose one of them instead of the default tones for txt. Are you using huge MP3s or something like 4MB? I think there's a 1MB limit for tones. You put them in the "Sounds" folder right?

Yep They are MP3 and are in the sounds folder... Like I said when I go to my regular ring tone they are in there but not for txting... And I wear all my phones around my neck...LOL

I had the same issue with a ringer on my memory card that I wanted to use for text messaging. I moved it to the Documents folder and then it was viewable in my choices for text alerts.

Yay ESPN Update ticker sound.

Quillhill you are a genius. Thanks it worked. And I don't get why it is so funny? Whats the difference of having it around my neck or on my hip?

To be honest, it just seems a tad big to wear around the neck. Not to mention it banging around and swaying while you move. Maybe I'm just too old an conservative to appreciate the "bling" method of cell phone carrying...

No problem. A friend of mine who has more WM6 experience than I do told me how to do it so I'm happy to pass the info along.

I actually carried my BB 8700 around in a bag that hung from my neck for a few weeks. I got the bag in the PX at Ramstein AB in Germany while I was visiting my brother while he was stationed there last year. I have no idea if that's a fashion statement over there though. :P

To each his own.

I have the Blackjack1 AT&T is telling me they THINK I need the Blackjack2. I CANT sync to Windows Vista AND Windows Mail. Does the blackjack2 Sync with Windows Vista and Window Mail. I have Windows Mobile Device Center, its not compatable with Windows Mail. Have they fixed the email, calander issues caused by daylight savings even with the update? What are the differances between the two?....PLEASE help me. I'm considering buying a new phone Blackjack2 or Blackberry. I have had my Blackjack1 10 month very unhappy and over 30 Tect support calls......THANKS

Windows Mail (Outlook Express) doesn't sync email via Windows Mobile Device Center (ActiveSync). To get emails to sync you need Microsoft Outlook. That carries the necessary engines and protocols to sync with other devices. Windows Mail is just a stripped down version of that. The BJ 2 wont sync with it either so that wont make a difference.

The DST patch (there's 2 of them) if you have em both for the original BJ then there should be no problem at all. I had WM6 on my BJ and time updated properly as it should. The BJ2 has WM6 also so there's no problem there either.

Im thinking I should just go buy Outlook 2007. As far as the DST it work fine for a week after the DST that it went back another hour and also changed all my times on the Calender it did this several times. AT&T had me install and uninstall and reinstall the updates and the end resolt was they had me turn off the auto time and now no more calender problems. This issue actully 6 of my coworkrs we all have the same issue. But the Syncing I want to be able to do. I hear the furture it will Sync to Windows Mail but maybe I should just buy Outlook 2007 and be done all though my email service Cox Comunication ONLY suports Outlook Express and Windows mail. They dont supprt Outlook. So if I upgrade to SYNC then I loos email support from COX. I want email and syncing. I'm paying for both services.....Thanks for your help.

I'm pretty sure COX is lying to you.

I'm almost positive that any kind of mail account you can get access to via OE or Windows Mail can also be accessed via Outlook.

http://support.cox.com/sdcxuser/asp...67-3dae2a344a28

That provides all kinds of options for setting up your email. Good luck.
