Ok folks - in a few days will mark 3 years with Cingular / At&T. I have moved up the ranks from RSC , currently ASM , about to be RSM. I was presented with an offer today to come join a company making 50k base ( which add 8k more to that and that is what I am clearing with salary and commission at At&T ) I have parted ways once before about a year and a half ago when they closed our store down and I took the severence package to work for my dads start up company...start up company did not even leave the launching pad and ( two RSM were in constant contact with me due to my ARSM knew I was a good producer and wanted me to come back ) 3 months after leaving I was welcomed back to the AT&T family..now a year and a half later and 2 weeks into my about to be RSM position I am thinking about leaving. With the new medical insurance ( rip off ) and caps on commission , no more free spending on corporate card, etc. the RSM position does not sound appealing anymore. How has life treated you guys post-retail and if I do take this position ( mon-fri corporate america but outside sales ) and for whatever reason I do not do good....and had to come back to AT&T , do you think I would be welcomed back again or do you think 2nd time you leave thats a wrap? I know I can land a job with other carriers if it came down to it.....just getting tired of retail and the unappreciation.

Thanks for all of your input!

I think you need to do what makes the most sense for you, as others have said, your only loyalty is to your family and yourself. Oh by the way what kind of free spending on corporate cards are you talking about?

Work at that AT&T position as long as you can until the pay cant support you.

dude i never made it to assistant manager and have since quit cingular/att, but i love what i do now. in fact, i love my company and its benefits. A lot of people look at me and ask me what i do and when i tell them i work collections for a company, they look and say "oh man sucks for you". Does it suck? to me it doesnt. I finally got myself a monday-friday corp job that pays me roughly the same as cingular paid in 05 and if you hit your goals. not the most i agree, but ill take the pay for working somewhere i enjoy.

do whats best for you and if this company you feel makes you happier/offers more, go for it.

Do you plan on moving higher up the ladder to district manager?

I am an old guy in these forums so take this what its worth. I have been in the retail/Cell biz for over 20 years. From the lowly salesperson to a store owner. The money isn't really what matters, its all about being happy and taking care of the family.
I recently( a few weeks ago) took a job with a GREAT company, pay not as much as I would have liked but it just felt like the right choice. As I am going through the benfits packages and comapring what they offer to what we currently have I realize I will save an additional 4800 a year because of the better pricing on the medical benefits alone.

don't look at JUST the money look at the security, stability, future growth and benefits of the companies. ATT is a big very stable company while I see alot of *****ing about it on here its a great company to work for, you will have many opportunities to move up if you choose AND the ATT name will be very good for a resume down the line.

Don't know who the other company is so I can't comment. But theres far to life than money. Yeah if bail again I doubt you would be rehireable, you wouldn't be to me if I amde the choices.
I do not work for ATT and never have But have been an agent off and on for many years. The New job also deals with ATT and a regular basis
