HTC - QTEK 9000 - Touch Screen stops working intermittently

This problem began about five months after purchase ..... the touch screen may not work for a minute or two .... or up to five weeks .... very frustrating ...... no common denominator for the mal-functioning that I can determine ..... although key controls still allow pretty good functionality .... but nowhere near as convenient as the touchscreen ....

I've tried contacting QTEK and HTC ...... but have had no luck ..... although HTC in the U.S. has responded ..... but suggested contacts that seem to be useless .....?

Otherwise, the phone is marvelously designed and well-constructed .... could use much more ROM and RAM ...... and would be very nice to have external functionality .... a la Nokia E90 ....

Any suggestions on the touchscreen issue ?
