Sanyo 8100 ringtone & vibrate question.

I just purchased the 8100 this weekend from Sprint ($99 out the door, great price) but I'm already questioning the functionality. For example, does anyone know how to enable the vibrate function along with a ringtone? I see how you can have it on vibrate only and how you can have the phone vibrate in conjunction with the the highest ring volume, but is there a way to have the phone vibrate along with the lower ring volumes?

As far as i know it is not possible. Would be a great feature though

Yeah, that would be a great feature. And one that I have not seen anyone implement yet on any of these newer phones.

I am just happy that there are only 4 levels to go through from vibrate to level4+vibrate, unlike the A500, which has about 20 levels. What a pain it was to take that phone from high+vibrate (as you could never hear the ringer anyway) to vibrate only.

nokia phones have the vibrate as on and off, so the ringtone volume doesn't effect it. i wish all phones did that.

Totally agree - the phone is obviously capbable of vibrating and ringing, all I need is the option to do both at the same time. I also wanted to make sure it just wasn't the Sanyo that lacked this functionality. Thanks for the replies.

When you feel the phone vibrate you could hum. That would be as quiet or as loud as you like. Kidding...I wish the vibrate was separate from the ring volume also. Most of the time I think it would stay on loud and vibrate anyway but it would be nice.

yep -- this is just one of those things that I think should be implemented in all phones. Better yet, I wish there was a button dedicated to turning vibrate on and off. I understand simplicity is very important, and with it keeping the button count down, but it would be very nice. Of course, customizability is the reason I went sanyo in the first place, so i can't complain too much.

Actually, one of the best discoveries I've made with this phone (which I haven't even found documented) is that if the phone is open, you can change the ringer volume with the volume keys on the side without going through the menus and making any noise... It made me nuts the first few days I had the phone that I had to navigate menus just to turn the vibration thing on and off (which I have to do a lot). I love the fact that both the vibrate and ringer can be on the same time!

that's not documented? i dunno, it was always common knowledge to me.

Oops, it is in the manual, just found it.

I had a motorola before this phone, and you could toggle the vibrate/ring from the keypad...

It took me forever to figure this out, but you can activate the vibrate and ringer at the same time. Just open the phone and press the volume button up on the side of the phone until it says volume level 4 and vibrate.

He knows that, he just wishes that vibrate could be with something other than by itself or with the highest volume.
