Help! screen issues

I currently have the 1.0.2. unlocked onto Tmobile.

I've had the phone for 2 months+. Just yesterday, the bottom portion of my screen is not working properly. It's not a dead spot per say. What happens is for example, on a text message, when I hit the space bar, it will click the letters above the space bar. But when I hit those same letters, they work properly. The only portion of my screen that is not working properly is that bottom section of the screen the size of the space bar, but the whole bottom section.

So to summarize: i hit space bar or (123 button) or return and it will click the letters above such as zxcvbnm.

Has anyone had this happen? Is this a software glitch? What can I do to fix this?

u couldnt get it replaced under warranty??? did u try a restore?

Posted by: jackrussel32

restore? i tried maybe 10 times.. but replaced under warrenty? no.. they found out it was hacked so they didnt replace it, i did go to the apple store but they rejected me.. so i just bought a new one, they have some way to find out it was hacked, he litteraly told me that i hacked it and now i voided my warrenty, i virginzed the phone aswell before i took it there but he found out some how, i was really pissed but now im happy, its called a dead strip problem, it happens to many ppl that purchased the iphone in the begining, its really annoying mate i know.

well, i will try to virginize my phone...

does anyone know what I need to do to 100% make my phone back to stock and undetectable that it was hacked???

Posted by: jackrussel32

didnt you just read what i said? they can still find out it is hacked, if ur lucky maybe they will take it but they are not stupid. i used the virginizer script in installer, it virginized fine and the imeis matched too when updated to a fresh firmware. do whatever you want , its your phone , im just trying to help and save you time but go for it if you want, its just a realy dumb feeling tho, when he finds its hacked he says "ok please follow me" and then he takes you to this sign they have there and says "read this please" and then you read it says blah blah that if u hack the iphone the warrenty is voided and then he gives you ur iphone back and gives you a smile, i ended up going out of the store very embarresed cuz i thought they would actually return it, there was 1 thing tho, before he found out it was hacked, while he was restoring the iphone, we talked so he said that if the restore doesnt help he will exchange my iphone but i will have to activate the iphone right there, i didnt say anything at that point cuz i use tmobile prepaid so either way man, do whatever you want i just give you my expirience.

whoa wait. how in the world can they still see that it was hacked? after you virginize and restore, shouldnt it take you back to the "activate" screen? from there, all they can do is access the field test screen right?

btw jack: i think you dealt with a real douche bag. why would you have to activate it right there. if anything he would make you open it, thats it. and he has a big smile when he "catches" you....what a jerk.

Posted by: jackrussel32

I know he was a jerk man, i was really pissed, and yes it was in the activation screen when i brought it to their store but i didnt see his laptop screen which is where my iphone was connected to when he was checking, he ran some tool i think, and he did find that it was hacked, man they designed the phone so they probably designed a tool to check for such things, i told ya mate i virginzed and did a full restore but that douch still found out, he even asked some guy cuz i think he had a trouble with something and he helped him and then was when they found out it was hacked, like i said he embarressed me but i guess it wasnt his fault cuz hes just following instructions and doing his job, "genious bar" my a** lol. they arent geniouses, trust me, not 1 bit, they just run an effin tool and find out, even a noob can do that. but yea man i was just letting you know that they can find out, especially now, i went like a month ago, so they keep on making new **** to find hacked iphones when brought to repairs , they really taken this seriously.. u could try takin it there but dont hope for anything.

I don't think he knew it was hacked so much as you weren't on AT&T. I think they ask for your number before they swap it out.

I've heard of plenty people having hardware problems and rejailing their phones (after jailbreaking, not sure about unlocking) and all went smooth.

u heared of many in the past? what about now? they dont even sell u aniphone with u showing ID or credit card.. they will make u activate your atat account with the new iphone that they give you on the spot before they give you a new iphone. if you dont activate they simply say they wont give you a replacment. they didnt know i was on tmobile, i just said my wife had the account info, not me. and he said then go get eat and come back..

that sucks. I know they ask for your number. They probably can tell you don't have AT&T service. There's no way they can tell if your iPhone is modded (not unlocked but once jailbroken) if you restore it because they never hook it up to anything. They inspect it for physical damage, look at the settings for the serial # I guess, and give you another one. At least that was my experience. But then again, I've done everything officially. I'm on AT&T and activated my first iPhone back in October. I just jailbroke it today, and if I have any problems with this particular iPhone that's just what i'll do is restore it and send it back.

Posted by: jackrussel32

thats what i said, if u have atat i THINK you could get a replacment but if you are on tmobile or something like me then forget it cuz he will ask you to activate right there infront of him or else he wont give you a replacment. they changed their policy man, they didnt even ask for credit card or id before and now they do.

Posted by: flyhigh123

i think i'm gonna call it in instead of taking it to a store. This way I can use a friends AT&T number. If they ask me if it is my phone I can say that I bought it as a gift for a close friend and its not properly working so I am taking care of the replacement...

anyways, i'll be nice on the phone and play the holiday cheer...

haha

Thats how he knew....its obvious if he trys to activate the phone on at&t and it doesnt work because your SIM is tmobile SIM...Other wise it would have been undetectable.

Then again i wouldnt know... but **** apple if they have ways of finding out it was hacked. Hacked or not, if its on at&t it shouldnt void the warrenty. That would have been nice. Its all business.

i had the original atat sim inside when i brought it there, not my tmob sim dude, im not effin stupid.. but i dont know but he found out, and if u decide to send it to apple, maybe they send u replacment but its only temporary, they need to send u another one later , hope for the best and i said my iphone wasnt mine either , i told him i got it as a gift for my wife and that we just opened it and the part of the screen wasnt working, i showed him the touchpad in the activation screen, where 123 wasnt working, so he did a restore and then was when he found out somehow, the IMEI matched perfect, dunno how he knew.. but anyway i needed to activate there if he replaced it and quiete frankly im on tmob, not atat.
