Sending apps to Sprint LG Rumor with access to file system

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hey, so I ordered a data cable for my rumor installed the drivers. When I plug my phone in Bitpim recognizes it as a other CDMA phone. Bitpim will not allow me to view do things the easy way by just hitting get from phone but I can see the file system. I'm trying to add games to it so I opened the brew folder and found the folders that contained the java files for demos that came preloaded on my phone and tried adding a game. Everything sent fine though when I go to the my content menu the game is not there? I'm kind of new to doing much with phones so please help me out

thanks,
Damian

Does anyone know the file structure of this phone. I'm trying to find where the ringtones are stored so I can add some custom ones.

I couldn't figure it out but I did find this site that you can use to send ringtones wallpapers and apps/games to the Rumor

http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/

Still confused by the filesystem though

Thanks, I know about those sites. I'm trying to not use the "over the air" method. I'll let you know if I find anything.

I'd like to know this too. I do use the "over the air" method as jdhoar called it but I would really like to use a program similar to Motorola Phone Tools.

Damian, how were you able to get BitPim to see your Rumor? I have the same phone, and when I attach it to the USB cable and try to detect it with BitPim it can't find anything. I even set the settings to "Other CDMA Phone" like how you said yours worked, and nothing.

This isn't exactly the thread for this question, but I will answer anyway. The only reliable, easy to use way is by using GIN from Verizon. The phone uses BREW and all apps need to be serialized to the handset during the installation phase of the program, and cannot be transferred to another phone. There is currently no other way to get BREW apps installed on the phone. Some people have been able to get Flash games to work, look here for more info, or see the VX9900 Threads of Interest thread for more info on this phone.

ive been going crazy looking for drivers for this phone. i already got the data cable and i already fixed it so its not mass storage, but bitpim still doesnt read it...would really appreciate some help on where i could find the drivers

I bought a cable from cellphoneshop.net, that doesn't come with drivers, but they sent me a link:
http://home.netvigator.com/~wjcorp9/dku5/SETUP/
Where the driver for the cable is located.

I have used BitPim before, on a PM225, but have a Rumor now...will have to experiment to see how to load up the ringers. If anyone has had success with this, let me know.

Thanks!
