8525 Replacement--Backordered--any advice?

I've had real issues with my new 8525 not holding a charge. (Fully charged at 7 a.m. Totally dead at 3 p.m. even though no phone calls made. Tried 3 different batteries.) AT&T has agreed to send me a new phone as a warranty replacement.

The problem is that the 8525 is currently backordered. They tell me they have no idea when they'll have any more. I would consider upgrading to a Tilt, but I'm not willing to pay $300 for that upgrade.

At this point I'm stuck. I'm guessing all I can do is wait and hope that the 8525 come back in stock sometime soon. Thought I'd check here to see if anyone has any suggestions of alternative ways of getting my replacement. Or see if someone might have any inside info on when the 8525 will be available again.

Make them give you a tilt. If this is your 3rd 8525, then your 4th is a tilt. That's warranty rules. After the 3rd one, they send you a whole new device and it should be at no extra charge.

The one I have right now is actually my second. The replacement--if and when it finally arrives--will be the third. They have no problem with sending me a new device. According to them, though, they don't have any to send right now. I haven't been able to figure out a way to move to a Tilt without paying the price difference ($200+).

Unfortunately, I go out of town this Friday for about a week and I'm going to have to take my broken phone with me. It will probably die on me mid-afternoon each day and there's nothing I can figure out to do about it.

Hi Tony....

did they say if they had any refurbs left or are they whats backordered.

just tried to order one(refurb)but my order is getting kicked back

My replacement is to be a new one, so I haven't talked to anyone about a refurb. Last I checked refurbs were still listed on Premier, but I haven't tried to order one.

I'm currently on the phone with AT&T. I was told the 8525 is going to be backordered "at least 5 weeks" by the representative.

The representative checked with her supervisor and said she could sell me a Tilt for $100 plus returning my existing device. Problem: after I told her that I would be willing to do that, she had to check on a "code" from her supervisor and we were disconnected.

I had to call back and start all over again. I'm currently on hold hoping that the current rep--who of course is not the same one I had a few minutes ago--will be able to put together that same offer. I'm trying to be patient, but AT&T has not made that easy.

I wish I could figure out what is wrong with AT&T Customer Service. I called back in as noted above. The representative I received was checking into the situation and was going to get back to me. While this was going on I was disconnected.

So now, I'm on my third call to AT&T to try and get this resolved. One of the earlier representatives did notate my account about the $100 offer, so this rep is now checking into how to record that order. I've been on hold for about 2 minutes. I figure it's about time to be disconnected again. Hopefully that won't happen this time.

Well, I was on the phone with the last rep for around 45 minutes. Most of that time she was filling out "paperwork" (which seemed really odd to me). She supposedly did process my order for a Tilt and even gave me an order number. I have no clue how to track anything with the number she gave me, but hopefully everything is in fact being processed.

I'm stuck in backorder limbo as well. The physicians I work for need an IR port for the medical software to transfer information and the Tilt doesn't have it so we ordered 8525 and it has been on backorder for 2 weeks now. Ugh.

eagle why not just order the refurb @ 99.00-
