I would like to buy a refurbished Iphone, unlock it and use it with my T-Mobile Sim card until I can switch away from TM without paying a penalty.

Can someone tell me if this is possible at all and what functions will work on the Iphone if I do not buy an Iphone plan?

Of course I cannot expect the web to work, but all else should be OK, right????

It depends on what version firmware it has. I am using an unlocked 1.0.2 on tmobile and everything works except visual voicemail.
