I can't believe this, but I just found out that an iPhone a buddy of mine sold to someone (overseas), a Week 37 that was brand-new, still factory sealed, came with 1.1.2 OTB, and has the new 4.6 Bootloader out of the box!

The only thing we can come up with is that Apple must have had some laying around, and they upgraded them at the factory prior to shipping them out. It wasn't a refurb, it was brand-new, still sealed, never used or activated. I thought the earliest reports we had were 1.1.2 beginning in Week 41 (from some places), and by Week 45 all iPhones came with 1.1.2 and the new 4.6 Bootloader. This is the first time I've heard of a Week 37 coming with 1.1.2 OTB!

that sucks. im assuming your buddy sold it as an "unlockable iphone"? is the buyer mad that he cant unlock it? lol

Posted by: BornInBremen

He sent it to his brother, who was going to unlock it and sell it, but now obviously can't. Still, weird...

actually, I have heard of something similar before on a iphone which is week 45 and before. I heard that apple actually opened up the old stock and upgrade the bootloader. It sucks.....

I'd heard that too, but only on week 41-44 iPhones, not pre-Week 40 and below. Especially not on a Week 37.

I have 2 week 44 with me from Chicago and I am wondering if I should open those.

go for it, there's a chance it may be 1.1.1 since it's a pre-week 45

That is truly sad... Apple has the time to start opening up old phones and changing firmware, then re-sealing them...

I truly hope that a new unlock solution is found so that people can start to iRape the phones again...

Mezui needs to get the M8 out while they have a window to do so...

Forgive me if I sound dumb..I tried to find my answer by reading through 2 hrs of postings... but what if we do have the version 1.1.2? Is this a bad thing? I just got mine this past weekend and it has that. That's why I'm wondering. Thanks

Uh, yeah...if you have 1.1.2 OTB (Out of The Box), it means you have the new 4.6 Bootloader, which means you can't unlock it. At all.

I don't really need to unlock it do I? If I'm already with AT&T? I thought about using jailbreaker on it, but waiting to make sure I don't do anything to screw it up.

Posted by: BornInBremen

If you're already with A&T, and just want to use your SIM (and therefore your existing plan), you just need to Jailbreak it and whatnot, no subsidy unlocking required. There's several guides on how to do it with 1.1.2, read the stickies.

I wasn't going to ask you how to do the jailbreak...I've seen the stickies and plan on using those when I get a chance to read them.
Thanks for your info though on the version.
