Lost option to email on 5300 after unbranding. Help please

Ok I have a 5300 that I got from T-mo. I, like the rest of the herd here unbranded it immediately after opening the box. I remember before unbranding it that there was an option to send text messages to email addresses. Afterwards it disappeared. Now I can still enter settings for email under Messaging-->Message Settings-->Text Messages-->E-mail msg. centres & also under Setting-->Configuration-->Personal config settings, but I can't figure out how to actually download the email from my gmail account. Is there something I am missing? Or does the generic EU firmware not have an email client? Any help appreciated!
