What's the newest usable Sharp phone in Canada?

Hi all,

I've wanted to get ahold of a Sharp phone for a while now but it seems like most of them aren't available for use in Canada. Last heard, the 903 was usable in North America but that was like years ago. I've followed the 904 news for a while, but it has yet to be unlocked, and now it has gone up to 920 as the newest Sharp phone. So I'm wondering if the 903 is still the newest Sharp phone that can be used in Canada?

I'm really liking the 920!!!!!

Edit: Just wondering, any opinions on the Sharp 703? Saw one for sale but I don't know the market value for the phone.

The 920 can't be unlocked yet. It also has software restrictions in place. The 904's as close to an unlock as it's going to get, and that's a SIM hack, like the kind used to get iPhones onto non-AT&T networks before the software unlock came out.

If you dont care for Japanese language on the phone you can look into a SX633 (not cheap though) or a 770SH. These are slightly newer and both can be found unlocked (but make sure they are unlocked, as getting a locked one is difficult to get unlocked).

I don't really care for the Japanese language as I can read some of it. But would the SX633 or 770SH display chinese or english? Or is it PURE japanese only?

Also, those 2 uses sim cards instead of those sim hacks and stuff right?

EDIT: Tried looking for the SX633 and 770SH and I only found 1 770SH McLaren Edition on ebay that costs like 300cdn T_T. Doesn't say if its unlocked though

sx633 has chinese, 770sh does not

The Taiwanese version WX-T82 also support chinese.

please head to blueshow.net forums and take a look how people are working on 904sh sim hacking. They have subforums opened recently just for sim hacking that were used on 904sh. One thread clearly states that att's sim card (v2) can't be hacked at the moment due to much tighter security. Only v0 and v1 can be done right now. I am not sure how iphone was hacked before the software unlock came out as I didn't follow closely. But if it can be done using that method with newer sim card, it should have been done here, hk, most part of asia, canada, eruope, and not only in china right now. It give you the hint, because china's sim card is hackable, in another word - older version than rest of the world. The theory is proven, but sim card has to be hackable to get it done. BTW, since you are regular hofo member here and you live in china, you should give it a try. I am pretty sure a lot of us are willing to send you a sim card to test it. Wait, there should be tons of att sim card in china now as so many iphone were imported in china.

i wonder though, if you had an old cingular sim if it would work. Also an old ATT blue sim card. Any results on tmobile? I gotta check out blueshow, damnit I wish I knew more chinese

How is the 880sh function wise and camera wise if anyone knows. Looked it up on GSM arena and its a pretty interesting phone.

But still I couldn't find places that sell this in some chinese stores in Toronto, Canada or on ebay T_T

EDIT: AW614, you mention it is available for use for non-jdm. So does it mean its just like any other gsm phone where you plug in your SIM card and it works?

I guess you mean me - "penpower". Yes, as long as the phone is unlocked, it can be used in most 3g/gsm network (900/1800/1900 gsm&2100 3g)

sx663 is currently on sale for close to $4000 HKD = $520+ USD depends on daily bank exchange rate

Oops. My bad Penpower, both of you had the same avatar...thought that you're the same person. LOL...

and I can't edit my post T_T
