Just Unlocked my blackjack I

Thanks everyone for the heads up on getting cingular to give you and unlock code.

The instructions they give for the blackjack are somewhat wrong and given the result of 5 consecutive failures I would think they would be a little more accurate when supplying the "how to" information.

Cingular tells you to type into your blackjack:
#7465625*638* unlock code #
then press "Send"

when you hit the last "*" the phone goes to the "network lock" screen where a box is presented to you for input of the unlock code.
Here's the correct sequence:
Type in
#7465625*638*
when the input box appears put in your provided unlock code (do not append a "#" sign at the end as cingular instructs).
press the "OK" soft key (not the "send" key as cingular instructs).

You we see "Successfully Disable Locking Status" which I assume means the phone is now unlocked. (you wont see "network lock deactivated" as cingular tells you you will see).

If you repeat the procedure you will see "Successfully Disable Locking Status" again and not "not yet personalized" (as cingular tells you you will see).

Hope this helps keep the stress level down to folks attempting this for the first time.

I noticed that the messages were wrong too, I was worried I messed something up. Great heads up ! ! !
Have you tried your phone with another sim carrier ?
I tried mine with a friends T-Mobile card and I get a lock message.
Any info ?

Are you kidding? So the phones are NOT unlocked after this procedure?
I have not tried mine with another carrier

Yes the phone is unlocked, I tried it again today with a T-Mobile sim card, It just take a while before it aquires T-Mobile's network.
I guess I wasn't patient before

Whew, thanks!! I just sold the phone as an UNLOCKED blackjack. Hate to get my ebay rep screwed up by lie.

Man, sold the BJ for $197 and the friggin ebay and paypal fees ended up like 16 bucks!! When did ebay get so expensive???? I remember when they only took 50 cents on a purchase...those were the glory days of the internet!!
