sorry guys but AT&T is just not working out for me...can't get a good signal on my house so I'm going back to alltel and its my only line.

My question is:
I ported over got new service got a free phone then the next day I won an iPhone at work.
If I cancel I understand I have to return the samsung but will I get charged a fee for cancellation of the iPhone?

I'm past the 14days to return the iPhone to the apple store.
can I just sell the iPhone on ebay and cancel before the 30th day?

Thanks in advance.....

You have 14 days to return the iPhone, which you're passed. You have 30 days to cancel the service, so you might be ok.

Yeah I understand that part but I thought they charged a fee if u cancel an iPhone plan?

Nope, as long as you are within the 30 days there should be no fees except for whatever you used that month plus activation fees. If your iphone is a bit older you can get a really good price selling it on ebay, the older models that can be unlocked are going for 500+, a lot of times over 600...if you look at the 4th and 5th (i think...if not, the 3rd and 4th can't remember off the top of my head) numbers in the serial number and they are less than 44 then you have a good one

and if you want to keep your number don't cancel it...you need to port your number back to alltel first. once you cancel your account you lose your number

What sux is I love this phone but if I can't use it for a phone on my house then I have to port back..AT&T just not as good as alltel on Tampa bay.

I think the fee your thinking of is a restocking fee and that's only for returning the iPhone, not cancelling the service.

yeah i thought there was a fee from att if you cancel (with iphone plan) and not have proof you returned the iphone...in my case im out of the 14 days so i dont think i will be charged the extra...

Is it true that you do not have to return the original phone because the i phone contract voids out the original contract?

I've never heard of a fee for canceling the iPhone plan. By the way, you could just keep it. It's basically the Media Max plan for regular phones.

Bull. I use AT&T here in Tampa and it beats Alltel hands-down, period.

you have trouble in the Tampa Area? Maybe it's the phone, i know people w/ iPhones that live down there, and when we were down there, I never had one issue. I think I got better if not the same service I do here in Chicago.

Can't the iPhone be hacked and used with Alltel?

Sweet jeebus I hope that's sarcasm.

If you're being serious and asking...

since borninbremen is incapable of being anything but a troll, no you can't unlock the iPhone to be used on Alltell considering it's a CDMA carrier and the iPhone runs on GSM.

Just be sure to cancel before the 30th day. From the ATT iPhone contract:

"An Early Termination Fee of $175 may be assessed against you in the event that you terminate your Wireless Service Agreement and/or selected plan before the expiration of its term. You may cancel your service, for any reason and without incurring the Early Termination Fee, within thirty (30) days of signing your Wireless Service Agreement, PROVIDED, however, that if you cancel service you will remain responsible for any service fees and charges incurred. "

I believe the $175 is now pro-rated, btw. Gets less the longer you go.
