Iphone can not be unlocked?

Hey,

IProbably this questions been answered a billion time, but i was told apple just released a new iphone (firmware) that can not be unlocked? This is true and another BS story i was told so i wont purchase the iphone (I need to unlock the phone due to the fact i live in Canada)?

It would be nice if someone could tell me or send me to a link about this story

It's true. 1.1.2 cant be unlocked because of the new bootloader.

is there anyway to tell what firmware is it....without purchasing and opening up the box?

4th and 5th digit of the serial number which is printed on the box...you will want it to be 44 or below to be safe...though there have been instances where a 41 has has 1.1.2 on it...but I just got a 44 phone last week with 1.1.1 on it

I got 3 of them from buffalo at walden galleria, week 37's this was a couple months ago now...they still had brand new 4gb available (bought 2 8gb and 1 4gb)...then the latest one is from michigan...it was a gift, more than likely from sommerset mall in Troy MI

the week 37's all came with 1.0.0 on them and 1.0.2 was the up to date FW version when I unlocked and all that

ur better off talking to small shops in BX or Queens

I did it!
I bought a stealth sim from www.iphoneconsultants.com & voila.
Works like a charm on my Fido. Was told it will work on Rogers also in canada , Verizon & Tmobile in us & Vodaphone & all other gsm cell providers.
Mind you, it was a bit steep at about $120 CDN, & an hour to jailbreak it etc, but better than sitting there watching it in the box.

how would it be possible to get one like that though? Like do you think if I asked the guy at the apple store "hey can I get one with the 4th and 5th digit on the serial number thats 44 and below?" would they actually go get me one or would they be like why or something?

^ yeah i told the guy at the apple store that i want the one with 44 or lesser (4th and 5th digit) because "i heard that there are some issues with the screen on the ones with the 45 and up iphones (he didn't ask a lot of questions, he just went looking). so he got me a week 44 with 1.1.1 and now it's unlocked
