So, I upgraded my phone from this old Nokia to a w385, cheap, had everything I wanted, seems durable. Got home, plugged it into the computer. I got it working with moto4lin (after a lot of trouble) but I'm pretty sure Metro has blocked my access to installing Java games and apps... Any advice about anything to try?

I am only guessing here, but I am thinking that your CDMA Moto does not have Java capabilities to begin with. Soooo, installing Java games and apps. is pretty much a futile adventure.
I could be wrong, however, but I am thinking that it is a BREW based phone and not a Java based one.
Your best bet would be to follow this thread: CDMA Motorola Discussion

Almost all CDMA phones don't use Java but Qualcomm's BREW.
There are a few exceptions I know of like Telus and Bell Mobility, but I can assure you Metro AIN'T one of them. They want to sell you apps and ringtones via @metro. Don't bother with modding a Metro Motorola firmware for Java like many have done. Java will work (only with what you upload to it) but there will so many little problems the web MM emails, etc. ...and that is if you are a proficient to expert technician.
Don't mean to rain on your parade, but that is in essence the whole deal.
I am one of their customers too, and I just accept those minor quirks as a fair trade off since I get a flat bill every month of $53.

Very proficient...
Well I'm new to this phone modding thing but down to try to take it up to the point where I would be able to do that. Do you have any suggestions of any specific sites, or other forums that have some sort of learning literature?
