From HTC Tilt to iPhone

Well, I grew to hate my Tilt so sold it last night and bought an iPhone today. The Windows Mobile 6 was just terrible....bad UI, not intuitive, unstable.....after about the 5th time removing the battery to recover from Windows freezing up I was done. The camera also sucked and the video playback was intolerably bad. I just wasn't willing to pay that price to have a really cool keyboard, 3g, the very useful GPS/Nav, and synching with my corporate Exchange server.

I messed with my buddy's iPhone for about 5 minutes a while back and was hooked......the UI and video playback are just amazing. I'm a Linux guy so not happy about having to use Winblows and iTunes but am willing to give it a try with my work laptop which has XP.

I'm under no delusions that Apple is any less of an evil at making EVERYTHING proprietary as opposed to Winblows, but at least the Apple stuff works really really well. I'm excited to break out my iPhone and start playing with it tonight.

So, any ways to synch this thing with Linux guys??? (Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon)

I'm not too sure. Can you download iTunes to Linux?

I'm sure there is a way, but it probably takes some modding maybe. Someone else may know a little more than I do. If you can get iTunes to work with Linux, I would think so, but I could be totally wrong.

What up, J LO.

Honestly, I wish I could take out the battery on this thing when it freezes.

You have to hold the power button and the home button to force it to restart if it freezes, but I've had that not work a couple times (on 1.0.2).

Welcome. WM sucks.

You have to remember that you are using it hacked and unlocked, which could account for the freezes.

My 1st iPhone kept freezing... but my replacement one hasn't frozen once in over 2 months (jailbroken, many many apps loaded)

Chances are your right. Mine only freezes once in a blue moon and when it does it just kicks me to the homescreen, never actualy freezes like WM phones. And I've had like 4 iPhones, never once has one actualy frozen.

Originals can also freeze, or more often, crash back to the home page. Well known occurence.

Originals can also lock up during software updates. Again, not uncommon.

Basically, the OS isn't that tight yet.

Yup!!! Now that I've been messing with the iPhone for 2 days I really like it so much better than the tilt. It still synchs with all my calendars and contacts so the only thing I'm really missing is the GPS but it's a small price to pay for a much more superior phone. I never used the 3g much on my old phone so not an issue.....I'm near wifi enough so that's what I use most. Couldn't be happier right now.
