Hi friends,

Happy Holidays. I presume this has been asked before, and I searched & looked at the WIKI, but at this point there is information overload and I could not find the relevant answers. Sorry to ask such redundant questions.

I want to buy 2 Iphones in time for Xmas, one for my friend and one for my relative.

1) My friend lives in the USA and has Verizon as his service provider. Can I get him an I-Phone? I understand that the ability to unlock it will depend on which version I get, but my main question is that can I use a sim card based phone on Verizon?

2) Where can I buy these IPhones? I live in Boston, MA. I prefer not to use ebay, but will use a reputed online retailer if there is no store that I can get it from

Thanks so much,
Andy

Did you REALLY look? Every thread practically talks about these. Anyways:

1. Verizon is not GSM, so no, he cannot use an iPhone. If he is in America he needs T-Mobile or AT&T. I think Boost Mobile is GSM? Not sure about that one.

2. You can buy them at any AT&T store or Apple Store? If you mean where can you get one that you can use with other service providers, you have to get lucky and get an older one or eBay.
