V3m Flashing problems

So heres my problem. I have a sprint v3m. I flashed it to the alltell monster and loaded the cricket settings as per the instructions here http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1179926 flash failed at 67% first 2 tries then everything went fine. for whatever reason i flashed it back to sprint a few days later and that went fine. now I have tried to flash back to cricket and it always fails. using MFF or RSD flash always fails about 3/4 of the way through using verizon, alltell, or cricket flashes. if i try the sprint flash it fails right away. So my question is this, is the phone screwed? is there a different program i could use or could i get a clip or dongle of some sort that would fix this phone?

So what firmware are you on now.

none, i just get the hellomoto screen, or the verizon screen if i try to flash with that.

i have the same problem.... but i have 5 phone that were on verizon that went bad one by one as i flashed them to cricket....
i have tried all the rsd lite versions and all the cricket firmwares nothing seems to work on them.....

Does anyone have the solution to this problem....

I think i found the problem, and it seems it cant be fixed. Seems you can only flash a sprint phone once. after that i get error writing subscriber unit, replace subscriber unit and try again.

Hey zorl don't give up you can still flash it. I had the same problem before and normally I fixed it by messing up the flash. Sound crazy but I have gotten to that step so many times already. Normally I allow a flash go into GROUP 2x% and unplug the phone at 1% and change the firmware to another one and try again the same thing. I read this somewhere and did it my self. However, if you can not flash it again try this little trick.

1. unplug the phone
2. remove the battery
3. hold down * & #
4. while holding those two button down plug the usb cable back.

Now it should force load into bootloader.ini or something like that. Try reloading your flashing program and see if it will detect the firmware. If it takes a long time let it think once that happens run the flash.

Hope that helps, if the flash failed is ok try starting the phone then turning it off and re-flashing it again with the same firmware.

Last note I try using Monster firmware to flash instead of the regular stuff.

Goodluck.

I was finally able to recover this phone. thanks dj. I used radiocomm started writing verizon v3c flash, stopped at 2%. rebooted phone loaded sprint monster and it completed the flash. My advice is not to use any sprint flashes as they seem to be corrupted somehow. I had no problem flashing away from sprint but after i reflashed back to sprint nothing else would work and i was only able to reflash to sprint. None of the other v3m files would work, whereas they would before i used the sprint monster. the sprint monster is called SPR_V3M_00.48.03P_PRImm43273_MONSTER_01.SHX.

It could be that you can only flash from sprint once ( i think i read that somewhere on the forums ) or it could be a bad file. When loaded in any of the flashing programms bootloader always shows as null. Hopefully this will help anyone trying to flash a sprint V3m.

To DJAngelicon and zorl, thank you for the excellent notes.
My phone (V3M) did the same thing. It won't accept flash beyond 80%.
I tried RDS, RadioComm, PST, whatever. I changed the drivers, PC's, etc.

The only way to save it is exactly as you said. Flash it with V3C, at 2%, remove the cable, and then flash it with V3M (Sprint). I used RadioComm.

The only problem I am left with is that there is no "Hardware Version" in the Settings/ Phone Info / Version.

That's why I was trying to flash it back an forth. Is there a solution for the hardware Version problem?

Thanks again,

Sprint seems to have there own little F(&*d up software. Their bootloaders are a little different. I found this somewhere else can't remember where at the moment but this is what i did to get away from sprint. flash phone with alltell flash, unplug at 1%, flash with sprint flash unplug at 1%. Now flash with the file of your choice, that will work with your phone. It will fail. reboot phone and flash again this time it will complete. Sounds kinda screwy but I have done this several times now.

I'm new at this so sorry if i'm in the wrong forum, But I tired flashing my moto v3 and I think that there might have been a discnnect during the process and now my razr doesn't start up and when i plug in the charger the keypad would just flash like it was starting up then resets and the key pad would flash all over again

Posted by: zorl

hold down the * and # key when you plug in the charger, this should put you into boot mode. from there you should be able to reflash your phone.

I had a verizon V3m and flashed it many times with various firmware from other carriers until i did it was Sprints version and from that point on I have had nothing but freaking &*$&#(847 up the u know what..I could not flash this phone anymore with anything else. I have since sent the phone into Motorola for repair at my cost. But after reading what was posted Here I wish i had tried that before sending it off shelling out some money when I could have fixed it at home....GURRRRR ...LOL Anways I requested they flash the phone with alltel firm ware but will see if they will. If not I will do the stuff my self.

I recently got my V3m back from motorola and still had the ampd firmware/software on it so I flashed it and got alltel v3m software to work on the phone. I did try to send out text to some friends as a test and it also didnt work. I did the star 228 option 3 and after that my text and mms features worked. But I find that I went from evdo to digital when i did it so what I normaly do to correct this problem is i use the Motorola General 5.1.2 and go under EVDO settings and under the drop down menu I turn on Hybrid No change and change preferred mode to Automatic. I also add the following info to the seem and NV section on that sam page to get highspeed EVDO for data dethering..

NV
4445553333@alltel.com
ESN # as password
Seem
4445553333@alltel.com
ESN # as password

Hit the write the phone and the phone will reboot and it should atleat get evdo signal I'm in california so I sure I'm roaming on sprint towers when I'm at home...Hope this helps.

i'm kind of a noobie at this it was my first time flashing a phone what is motorola general? and in my area there is no option 3 over *228... So i'm not sure this is an option... My data works over evdo just having trouble receiving pics.... I'm kinda lost here... By the way thanks for the reply....
