3125 - Camera shows only black, beeps when 'Capture' is pressed

The title pretty much sums it up; when I open the camera option on my HTC 3125, all I see is a black screen regardless of how well-lit the subject is. When I click on the 'Capture' icon, I hear a 'beep' and no image is captured. The camera used to work fine and to my knowledge there has been no trauma to the phone. There is also nothing blocking the lens.
I have upgraded to the latest ROM (4.1.502.5) and have reset all factory settings.
Anyone?
