Newbie question about calendar

Hi guys.
Let me just say that I have never owned a PDA before this will be my first.
I am deciding between the centro and the Touch.

Here is my question. What is important for me is to be able to see my schedule and tasks (to-do list) that I have for that day.
This is what I really like about WM6 is that you can see what your schedule is like for the day by just glancing at your phone without having to do anything it is just in the background wallpaper...

I have not seen this done with the palm. Do you guys know if this is at all possible?

It's possible, but it requires extra software. WM just does it automatically in your today screen. If your new to PDAs & dont know much about installing stuff, I'd probably take the easier route & get the touch.

I know with the newer Tungstens the Calendar page had an "Agenda" view that showed tasks and e-mails (no extra software needed). Don't know if the Centro has that, though.

The Centro can sync its calandar, tasks, and events with your PC's Outlook. with no extra software.
(Based on 755P operation)

If I can add to this, and I am sorry if this not the place to ask. But I just got my vzw 755p, does anybody use datebk6? I was going to install, unless anyone has some ideas on something better?

Also, what is a good program for birthdays, anniversaries and stuff?

Thanks,

PE

Don't know about datebk6, have not used that app in a long time. For important events (birthdays, etc) you can use the Palm Calendar, it does have tags that you can add to your contacts for such events, or you can create your own. You would just setup the date for the event, and it will show up in the calendar app when you have completed the entry in Contacts.

There is also Holidates, where you can add to the events already set up in the app. It is OK, but you don't need the app. There are others out there. I just use the palm contacts and calendar for personal stuff and Holidates for everything else.

Datebook 6 is pretty sweet and a superior upgrade to the built in calendar. If you are a "normal" user you wont use 95% of the features that it has though.
