Bypass Java Security on Bell LG VX8700

I have read a number of posts on how to bypass Java security for the LG Shine - has anyone tried this on a Bell LG VX8700?

Reason is to be able to use Google Maps without it asking for net access everytime you scroll the map or zoom.

I think I'm halfway there.

Using Bitpm I found in the directory brew/ams/19 (the number may be different for your phone depending on what apps you have installed) a .jad file which is for Google Maps - and in the same directory a .ca file which just has one word in it "untrusted".

Took a guess and tried changing it to "trusted" but still the same issue. Perhaps I have to uninstall and reinstall Google Maps?

Any tips or success on the Bell LG Shine VX8700?

I believe it should work the same way; since we ARE technically telling BitPim to use your phone when in reality we have the TU720. Give it a shot.

how did you even get to view the file on a vx8700?
i have a bell vx 8700
Bitpim can't see any of the actual file, and it can only see directory

These aren't really VX models, right (since VX generally refers only to VZW LG phone models)?

Mine is a VX and it's from Telus. Or rather what I mean to say is I have yet to find anyone call the Telus flip version anything other than a VX8700...

It'd be nice if anyone on this board knew if it has a special name. Or even better, if they know how to unlock Java restirctions since apparently the file structure is different on this model than on the Rogers slider version.

From Telus, it's only Lg 8700. So, "VX" version is just to say that's from Verizon.
I buy a usb cable for VX8700 model and it works with my LG8700.
