Moving contacts from old phone to new phone

I need to figure out a way if possible, to move all the contacts from my old phone to my new Touch.

What happened was a buddy of mine bought a new phone so I helped him move his contacts over by first deleting my contacts in Outlook, downloading the contacts from his old phone, and copying them over to the new phone.

Afterwards, I went to re-copy my contacts to Outlook after deleting his contacts. I figured by just connecting my phone and syncing it would download my contacts from my phone, but it did the reverse and deleted all the contacts from my phone.

Luckily, the phone is about a week old, so I have only added a couple of numbers to it. I would like to connect my old phone, download the contacts from it, and copy them back up to my new phone. Problem is that I am worried that when I connect the old phone it will do what it did with my new one, and delete everything from the address book. I need to force it to download the contacts from the phone, as that is now the only copy of my contacts that I have left. After I've got them synced back up in Outlook, I need to of course put them back on my new phone, which I am assuming at this point won't be a problem.

Does anybody know of a way to safely pull this off? I will probably cry if I end up losing my contacts.

Thanks!

I see you're in Canada, but I would assume your carrier's retail stores, like virtually all of them here in the US, have equipment to transfer your phone numbers between phones at little or no charge. Having it done there may save you time, headache, and data loss.

EDIT: And usually as long as one of the phones belongs to that carrier, it doesn't matter what service the other phone came from. For example, I'm in a Sprint retail store and can transfer phone numbers between any Sprint phones, or from a Verizon phone to a Sprint phone, Alltel to Sprint, Sprint to Alltel, Verizon to Alltel, or any combination thereof, as so desired.
