Error message during downgrade.

Hello everyone!
My friend is trying to unlock 8gb iPhone. I believe he recently bought it.
While downgrading to 1.1.1 iTunes gives error message (i don't know which one), and of course it stops downgrading.
I think it may be because this phone is very new (s/n 86747RD...).
Does anyone have any ideas why iTunes gives error message? Can this phone be unlocked?
Thank you for your help.

There is no software unlock FOR SURE, so you don't need to confirm anymore - Your phone was manufactured 2 weeks too late.

However, look into a product called TurboSIM or any one of its variants. It will cost you, from the looks of it right now on eBay, anywhere from $60 to $100 - but if you want a working phone, that's your only solution right now.

Also keep in mind that this solution requires you to apply irreversible modifications to your SIM card, so it will cost you the price of a SIM card every time you mess up.

Hope this helps,

L.
