Ok. I have a phone that I have had since pretty much day one. I have sucessfully upgraded it to 1.02 and 1.1.1 and now wanted to bring it to the latest ..
I followed the instructions in the "milestone" method, (tried it 3 times) and everything kind of works, but the final upgrad via iTunes to 1.1.2. fails with an error 1603.
It's left in recovery mode (yellow triangle) but I can bring it out of that by running the jailbreak script and using the boot from recovery option.
that's where I'm sitting now. it has 1.02 firmware 4.02 modem firmware. I'm using it on ATT so I don't necessarily care about other carriers.
So, what's the best option from here ? Virginize ? 5# hammer ?
thanx!

Hmm...Sounds really weird! In the earlier steps, it requires you to upgrade to 1.1.2 to get the baseband on there - did you get an error at that time?
Also, when you said you tried it 3 times, do you mean you tried the final upgrade 3 times, or the whole process (virginize, and then start all over)? At this point, I'd probably suggest you dowgrade the baseband to 3.14, and downgrade the FW to 1.0.2 and go from there.
PM me if you have any more questions.

Well, to update (if anyone cares)
After re-loading, restoring, virginizing about 40 times
I FINALLY have my phone running 1.1.2
The final thing that worked for me was loading 1.1.1 and running CARNIVAL..
then upgrading to 1.1.2 with itunes.
runnin SWEET!
I even got so desperate for a working phone I BOUGHT IPSF
(which ALSO DID NOT WORK )
sigh
