i have a 1.0.2 phone, already was activated for att. i wanna unlock it so how should i do it? shopuld i first upgrade to 1.1.1 then jailbrake it and unlock it or do i have to unlock it first on 1.0.2, then upgrade and redo it if i want to.

everything i read seems to start with a new unactivated phone, so im not sure on the correct approach to do this.

can i just use safari through a wifi connection and go to jailbrakeme.com and then use installer to downlaod anysim 1.1?

Upgrade to 1.1.2. You then have a stock 1.1.2 phone, and read the sticky on how to unlock it

I have a similar question. I have an iphone on 1.0.2. I bought this on ebay and it has not been unlocked or jailbroken. It was originally activated with at&t and when I turn on the iphone I get to the springboard. I wanted to know what the best way was to get this unlocked as I need to use it with tmobile.

Would the best way be to follow Drakken's milestones guide and upgrade to 1.1.2, downgrade back to 1.0.2, jailbreak/activate and unlock, run oktoprep, upgrade back to 1.1.2, and finally jailbreak 1.1.2?

I read something about anysim 1.2.1u and running it on firmware 1.1.2 in airplane mode. Could I just upgrade my 1.0.2 to 1.1.2, jailbreak and run anysim 1.2.1u in airplane mode?

Cockatoo, if your phone has never been unlocked you are fine. Doesn't matter that you are on 1.0. Just plug the phone into itunes and upgrade to 1.1.2 or 1.1.1 whichever firmware you want, then simply unlock on that version.

Ashkash00 for your situation, you can either use Drakkhens guide which I highly suggest. If you want to go straight to 1.1.2 you would have to jailbreak your 1.0.2 version to get installer on the phone in order to install the oktoprep pack which is requires for the 1.1.2 unlock. after that is installed you can then upgrade to 1.1.2 download anysim1.2.1u and run it in airplane mode. I don't suggest this method as people have had problems with this method.

Since currently the phone has 1.0.2 (and it has never been jailbroken or unlocked, but it is activated) there is no need to virginize and for the first step I can just upgrade to 1.1.2 through itunes and then continue following the guide to go back to 1.0.2, activate/jailbreak and unlock, oktoprep, etc... is that correct?

Yep put your tmobile sim in before you start the guide.
