Problem jailbreaking my 1.1.2 OTB iPhone

My friend and I spent like 2 hours trying to get this freaking thing going. I was using the GUI method from iNdependence 1.3, because it made it easy to get into DFU mode, which we did successfully. The problem is getting 1.0.2 onto it when iTunes (7.4) detects the phone in recovery mode. It simply won't go. I've tried it several times and it unpacks the firmware or whatever, and then says "an unexpected error has occured (1)". The help file in iNdependence says this happens, and if so, to close iTunes and try again. I've tried it many times and keep getting the same result. The iPhone will accept 1.1.1, and after the restore displays the "connect to iTunes" screen. I can't get this screen off. If I launch iNdependence to try to kick it out of DFU mode (after 30 seconds or so, per the help file) nothing happens. I got fed up and restored it back to where I was 2 hours prior... 1.1.2 that says "slide to unlock" Ugh. I'm gonna throw the freaking thing up on eBay or craigslist and buy a 1.1.1 model off eBay...

Are you using a mac? If so, can you get access to a pc?

When you get that error (1) restart your computer and try again. This usually solves the problem for most people.

Also isnt iTunes 7.5 recommended for 1.1.2?

Yup. I hope you got your phone working?!? A response with what happened would be nice.
