Two days ago (December 15th, 2007.), I inadvertently clicked on the Memory-cleaner icon of my Blackberry Pearl 8100. That one action seems to have deleted all data on the device.
So I resynchronized the pearl with data I backed up on Saturday December 15th, 2007.
Despite this, my address book has been coming up empty.
But if I go to messages and select a number I have dialed, it displays in “view call log” .
If I were to high-light the number, press the menu button , then select view contact all the information stored in device address book about that contact” shows up.
But if I go directly to phone book it continues to display “no addresses” . This includes address inputs I have newly created.
However “address book option” indicates the number of entries is “300”.
Any reason for this apparently invisible-list?

I had a similar issue with my Blackberry 8700g. I had about 150 entries in my address book and added 3 new ones and they would not show up. The number of entries showed that I had 153, but I could only see 150. after reloading the OS and desk top, then doing a sync with Outlook, I still had the same problem. I finally figured it out.
Turned out that for some reason, the 3 entries were being added under a different "category" than the other entries. I now have all my entries under the category "General" (I did it in Outlook because it was easier than changing them on the Blackberry). You then need to make sure your viewing the "General" category on your Blackberry. You do this by going to your Blackberry address book, then to the "Filter" option. Select General (or whatever category you've put all of your contacts under) and you should be able to see your contacts then.
Good luck, I was very frustrated with this problem until I figured it out and hope this will help you - if it's the same issue I had.

Hello finder216,
That is insightful and worth rememebering. I usually sync my Pearl to a very small Dell notebook that barely has room for updates to preinstalled apps. It does not have enough space to install Microsft (office-suite) products.
So, What I eventually did and resolved the mattaer quite by trial & error is that I:
* went back to address book.
* selected menu
* selected filter
* uncheked the three categories(BBlist,Business &Personal).
Thanks, and have a merry Xmas.
