I should have one in the mail by Monday that's "supposed" to have an OEM 8860 housing on it. If anybody knows *specifically* how to tell the diff, I'd be glad to inspect & report back. (Can't wait! Just in time for Matrix:Reloaded!!!)

Well, expected it Monday, but got it today!!!
Everything works as described. Sliding answer is cool, blue lights are cool. I thought that it actually 'might' be an 8860 and I got jipped, so I removed the battery & lifted the dumbarse antenna helper (bogus crap) to reveal that indeed it is an 8260. The guy I bought it from kinda' over-exaggerated its condition. It's not mint, but I'd give it an 8 out of 10. I may replace the chrome housing but not right away 'cuz if I do I'll certainly drop-kick the phone about 20feet in a supermarket parking lot before watching it get run over by a 2003 Hummer H2! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, if you got any questions, let me know I'll be happy to inspect this phone as much as best I can.
P.S. What's the battery issue??
P.P.S. Mine has the chrome housed battery on it now.

the the 8260-8860 conversion...the battery contacts don't line up, thus leading to the inability to recharge...so the battery pack has been swapped out... I"ve done this conversion myself...it's pretty easy... if you have any questions...pm me

About the battery issue.............
The battery thing seems to be all over the place. I've seen people selling BMP-1A's on ebay & showing the type as "L-ion" which I know to be wrong. Just so long as they're not NiCad, it's fine w/ me. I've had great success w/ NiMH and Lion both.
What I'm curious about is..........looks like there's at least one source on ebay that sells a white-flashing battery for the 8860 and then the other OEM 8860 batts.
#1.) Has anybody here tried a white-flashing batt w/ an 8860?? (or 8260 conversion, in my case)
#2.) I see some convert the BMP-1A's to true 750mah L-ions (8260 batt). How is this done if the chrome housing can't be removed?? And anybody know a good source for these converted batts??
TIA (psycho Matrix freak here!)

Some people have reported that their 8860 battery did not have to be modded to work in the 8260 to 8860 conversion. I'll see if I can dig up some old posts.

hehe... i'm in the process of doing the conversion... actually did lots of research first..
only some models of the 8260 will charge the 8860 battery.
i suggest when doing the conversion to use a non-oem 8290/8890 battery. u still don't lose the quality of the battery..
i took my 8860 battery and striped it, on the 8860 middle housing, i took the battery contacts from my 8260 and cut/aligned/fitted according to the location of the 8290/8890 non-oem battery and placed into the stripped 8860 battery casing, my phone works fine
