I know this is gonna come off sounding uppity and rude/bad....no matter how i put it..

If you dont know how the rom things work for cell phones you are better off not even attempting the procedure.

What it is is re-flashing your phone from your install version to a different one. the ROM files are different sets of hacked up OS versions for phones. The best way to put it is winxp install you install first and then modify it. ROM's for cells are pre-built by companies and no matter what you do can be reset to that default becasue it is non-accessed memory. so if the phone goes bad, a factory reset will pull from that rom to restore etc etc.

When someone offers up a "new" or different rom, what they did was load it up virtually, modify the default install programs etc.. and re-save it. This makes the phone think that its using its "factory" install, but in reality its using a new hacked up rom..for more mem, less boot programs w/e the new rom was made to do.

re-flashing to a diff rom is at best sketchy. most of the time it works - when you know what your doing. if you dont you have just made an instant paperweight. (and no it cant be fixed most of the time when a re-flash goes bad, you cant even get the phone to boot to get into it to re-flash back again.).

That being said, just with the way your question was worded, it wouldnt probably be a good idea for you to attempt this by yourself unless you have money to burn on a new phone.

Sorry if that sounded harsh, but that is the reality of ROM and cell phones

was nothing agasint you, but good luck if you try. I'll pray for you

hey, I think u just scared the crap out of the op! its really not that hard or scary. I had honestly never flashed a rom until 2 months ago when I got my tilt. just head over to the xda developers forum and read about how to flash. if u do it correctly and hardspl ( you'll read about it on the forum) the tilt before u do anything its pretty much impossible to brick ur phone. its really not that hard and DEFINITELY worth it. my tilt runs a lot smoother and quicker. good luck and if u have any more questions feel free to ask.

good luck to ya..!

PS: is the new hardspl out for tilt rom 1.57..?
