hey all,

i literally just picked up my htc tytn and the instructions say to charge the battery, but dont specify for how long. it does specify that i will know the battery is charged when the LED light turns from amber to green.

however i spoke to a rogers rep, and they said its important to charge the battery for 24 hours the first time.

so what should i do?

CSR is an idiot. You can't charge past full. Literally. The phone stops putting a charge to the battery when the battery reports full. Try to unhook the power and hook it back up. It will charge for about 10 seconds, then say "full" again (it's detecting the fullnessocity of the battery and makign a decision to charge or not to charge during this time).

I have heard that Nickle based batteries should be fully discharged the first use, or some garbage. I don't bother. It's $40 in like a year.

A full charge is normally achieve after a charge of about 12 hours.

in my quick guide says charge for 3 hrs the first time.. anyways once mine was FULL the first time after about 4 hrs, it only gave me 2 hours of on and off use!

the battery life is shorter than anything i have ever used.

tthen you have a program that is running in the background a new battery should hold a charge for about a day with moderate use.
