Here's the weird part... the main 2742 seem edit (enabling USB file transfer) was actually already the right way on my phone. It was enabled. Straight out of the box, I plugged my phone into MPT, manually selected V3MM, and was able to get into multimedia studio and I could actually upload and download JPG's to the picture folder no problem. However, when I try to transfer mp3's to the phone I get "Request denied by phone (Unsupported media type (0x4F))". Since then I've done the other 2827 seem edit which make my phone appear to be a V3MM, and now I can get into MTP MMS without manually selecting V3MM... it will auto-detect my phone as such. But I still can't transfer mp3's. So onto P2K. I spent a lot of time with that, with a couple different versions, the latest one being 4.9.E which I'm pretty sure is THE latest version. I was able to get connected to the phone if I had MSU running in the background. But almost every time I tried to transfer mp3's TO the phone, it would lock up halfway through the file transfer. Once I managed to get a small file to complete uploading, but I locked up several dozen more times. I also tried BitPim, but could never get my phone connected with or without MSU running in the background. I literally spent 7 HOURS tonight trying to find some way to get an mp3 onto my V3M via USB. The most frustrating thing? I spent almost a year debating over which phone to get, and what made me choose this was that my girlfriend has V3M on Sprint and wanted me to try uploading some custom stuff to it via USB... and it only took me 30 seconds to make it work. So I cancelled my Cingular plan, signed up with VZW and got the V3M. At this point, I'm pretty damn sure I'll be returning it and cancelling VZW altogether. They want to lock me out of the phone I just bought? Then I will lock them out of my bank account. |
