Seems don't work in Verizon V3m

I’ve faithfully followed the clear directions given to apply seems to my Verizon Razr V3M to allow transfers via USB and Bluetooth. I’ve set up the newest version of MPT to use the V3cm. Multimedia Studio is routinely available. Unfortunately, every time I try to transfer files (of any size) I get an error message: “Unable to communicate with the mobile phone.” MPT has no problem reading or writing to the phone’s telephone book. I’ve re-done the seem “Bluetooth/USB File Transfer - 006a – 0 - Check to Enable” several times but no go. I’m using the OEM Motorola USB cable out of a USB 2.0 port. Given that phonebook functions work it seems clear that it isn’t a cable issue. Can you-all offer any advice?
Thanks very much.

Enable MultiMedia Studio (MMS) in MPT 4+
2827 Bytes: 0000 Offset 0006 check bits 0 - 2 - 3 - 6
This seem edit makes it so that MPT gives you the v3cm option to set your phone as a V3CM, which will allow you to use MMS to upload content to your phone.

Have you done that seem?

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately, I had done that seem. I just re-did it and found it to be correct. I continue to be able to use the phonebook functions but none of the MMS capabilities. Any other thoughts???

do the following seem edits in 2742

5A Bit 7 Checked File Access in QPST
6A Bit 0 Checked Bluetooth or USB File Transfer in MPT and E815 BT OBEX
75 Bit 5 Checked Transflash Copy/Move Options

That SHOULD fix the problem.

Still no go. Here are the current settings:

2742: Bit 5: Checked: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7
2742: Bit 6: Checked: 0,1,2,3,6
2742: Bit 75: Checked: 0,2,5
2827: Bit 6: Checked: 0,1,2,3,6

Do you see anything wrong with these???

6a/0 is the one that controls file transfers with MPT. you can try manually setting your phone in MPT to be an E815 (setup/general setup/communications/change modem). select the motorola phone and manually choose E815.

you can also try using p2kcommander with Motorola Software Update running in the background to load a picture.

also, if you are plugging your phone into a usb hub or the usb ports on the front of the computer (which in some computers is an onboard hub), i have seen threads that these do not work properly. use the usb ports on the back directly on the motherboard.

which firmware version do you have on the phone?

when i had my v3m i was (and still am) using MPT 3.11h and i didn't have any issues with it.

what SW do you have? I have the newest .07 and had the same problems. MPT will NEVER work for you. You will have to use P2K Commander. I can give you some more tips if need be, just let me know

Thanks very much. I've installed the latest P2K Commander but have no idea how to use it. I've started Motorola Update then P2K Commander but it seems to hang up. Can you tell me where I can find a tutorial for P2K Commander???

Thanks again.

if you are using the verizon firmware, MPT will not work since the folders for ringtones are different between the vzw ui and the old moto ui. i had flashed mine to vivo and had no problems with anything.

p2kcommander info can be found here: http://mark.cdmaforums.com/P2KCommander.htm

with ringtones, you will have to delete MyTones.Db and TmpTones.db in the root folder of the phone.

after ^that^ go to the Folder, "Motorola" then the subfolder "Shared" then to the sub folder "Ringtones" and add the ringtones to that folder. Should work, if yo uhave ANY problems let me know

I just got a Verizon V3M yesterday and am having similar problems.

Here's the weird part... the main 2742 seem edit (enabling USB file transfer) was actually already the right way on my phone. It was enabled. Straight out of the box, I plugged my phone into MPT, manually selected V3MM, and was able to get into multimedia studio and I could actually upload and download JPG's to the picture folder no problem. However, when I try to transfer mp3's to the phone I get "Request denied by phone (Unsupported media type (0x4F))". Since then I've done the other 2827 seem edit which make my phone appear to be a V3MM, and now I can get into MTP MMS without manually selecting V3MM... it will auto-detect my phone as such. But I still can't transfer mp3's.

So onto P2K. I spent a lot of time with that, with a couple different versions, the latest one being 4.9.E which I'm pretty sure is THE latest version. I was able to get connected to the phone if I had MSU running in the background. But almost every time I tried to transfer mp3's TO the phone, it would lock up halfway through the file transfer. Once I managed to get a small file to complete uploading, but I locked up several dozen more times.

I also tried BitPim, but could never get my phone connected with or without MSU running in the background.

I literally spent 7 HOURS tonight trying to find some way to get an mp3 onto my V3M via USB. The most frustrating thing? I spent almost a year debating over which phone to get, and what made me choose this was that my girlfriend has V3M on Sprint and wanted me to try uploading some custom stuff to it via USB... and it only took me 30 seconds to make it work. So I cancelled my Cingular plan, signed up with VZW and got the V3M. At this point, I'm pretty damn sure I'll be returning it and cancelling VZW altogether. They want to lock me out of the phone I just bought? Then I will lock them out of my bank account.

Good news! P2K Commander worked like a charm. I ran Motorola Update in the background and used an older version of P2K Commander, 3.2.6, and was easily able to transfer wallpaper and mp3 files - and to delete unwanted "locked" files on the V3M. Thanks to everyone for their help! And boo's to Verizon for making this nonsense necessary!

Did you delete the "my_tonesDB.DB file? also, you can't use MP3 as ringtones, they either have to be aac or qcp.ya Verizon blocks a lot of stuff. Just to let you know MPT will never work. P2K will though. The yway ido it is go to myxertones.com have the msend yo ua ringtone for free, save as a sound, go into P2K, delete the mytonesDB.db file, go to the Motorola/shared/audio file copy out the sound then go to the Motorola/shared/ringtone file and re copy it into that. Should work like a charm
