Is it possible to play music downloaded in the MPEG-4 AAC format (i.e. via the new Apple Music service) on the P800?

Protected AAC files can not be played on the P800, nor can they be transcoded into MP3 format. You can, however, burn protected AAC files to CD, and then re-rip them into MP3 format. I haven't tried this yet, but you can expect some degradation in quality using this method.

Unprotected AAC files can simply be transcoded into MP3 format to play on the P800.

yes you can play aac audiofiles if they are encoded as .mp4 video with a dummy videofile... sorenson can do this...
