this part accumulates scratches even from looking at it.... I can't even begin to describe how much this bothers me, and I have seen this part being sold on ebay.... so I wanted to know if anyone has done this yet or even thought about doing it... also... do you think if I buy the part and send it to apple along with my phone they will do it for me? I know it's kind of a naive question but ive done this before at the motorola service center for example....

thanx in advance

I actually think the 24k bezel looks nice

good luck on changing the bezel... seen vid on just battery replacement and looks like PITA.

That sneaky little ******* is MUCH bigger on the inside then just the narrow rim you see when closed.

Trust me when I tell you, it's not worth the effort.
(The whole thing is really a plate rather then just a decorative rim...check removing instructions to see what I mean)

From what I saw on the battery replacement video on youtube, it doesn't seem that hard, however I wouldn't want to lose my warranty so i would prefer Apple to do it....

Mine doesn't scratch up at all. CNN.CN has the chrome bezel for $55.99 + s/h.

are u sure it isn't scratched? I mean, I have to admit it's only visible in certain lighting, but u can defenitely see dozens of little scratches on the bezel's surface.... and I treat my phone like a baby, no falls no hard surfaces, no strangers touching it.... I wonder what kind of cover u used, I have been thru 2 already and it doesn't stop the scratching.... anyways 55 bucks is a price i'm willing to pay but will apple install it 4 me?

Trust me, I'm positive mine isn't scratched. I keep it in an old Oakley sunglass bag when it's in my pocket, however. That probably helps.

Well I am really happy for you man, it sounds like a good way of protecting it, once I get that frame replaced that is probably what I will do... what I want to know is, If any1 in HOFO has thought about doing this or done it.....

its easy enough...just takes a little patience...I've had my phone apart 2 times so its not that big of a deal

I've been keeping mine in that black pouch that they gave with the first iPod videos...the phone is slightly skinnier, but it's still a good snug fit and protects basically everything. Also, I don't use a case so it keeps it from slipping out of my pocket when I have looser pants on.
