Question about AT&T Tilt and WIFI

I just got a tilt.....YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to disable my data and media net since i dont want to pay for those and if i acendntly click a button to use it, i wot get charged. Since this phone has wi-fi and all the places i got has full wi-fi.

ALSO: i am in Highschool and have no need to constantly checking email and stuff.

When i called AT&T, they say i get charged for using Wi-fi? which i thought was weird, since i can web browse without having the sim card in it.

Was the person i was talking to just didnt know anything or is this true?

Also is their a way to disable data and media net on the phone by the phone. 1st or 3rd party app would be helpful.

No you will not get charged for using wi fi.

there is no easy way short of removing the data settings on your phone.

there are some work around by deleting or changing the end on the server for #g so it cannot connect.

By default, if you do not purchase any plan, ATT always put in a feature called "MediaNet PayPerUse". Just ask ATT to remove this feature and you can never get connected on data.

kaisertweak can disable edge/3g/gprs/etc. i would check that out.

I tried using Kaisertweak but it already on disabled but i still an get on.

I ALSO called AT&T and they say the disabled my data but i still can get on. WTF!!!!!!!!!!

How long after they disabled your data plan were you able to still 'get on.'

Did they mention that it would be until a certain date before the changes took effect?

Too funny, they said that..?? Its obvious that person knows NOTHING about wifi.

he/she doesnt know anything.. Wifi has nothing to do with your cell svc..

Call AT&T and have them remove all internet usage.. This way if u accidentally hit the media net, it will not allow u to go cause they have it shut off. There is NO need to 3rd party apps

The CS is full of it. You never pay to use WiFi.

As for disabling GSM/3G data, it's frilling simple. Just create a Network entry with no Modem entry set, just a name in the General tab through Settings->Connections->Advanced->Select Networks->New and select that as your default connection for programs that automatically connect to the Internet as well as for the private network.

I don't know why everybody else goes through complicated reg settings to disable network.
